DON'T BE AFRAID TO POST

Recently I happened to be within a group of people, all from Century Village. Your blog came up in the conversation. A number of them were pleased that you could state anything so long as it was worded in a civil manner. I asked have you joined the blog? Everyone answered no; they don’t wish to be held responsible for what their true thoughts are. Perhaps if you could take responses without being identified, they would feel freer to log on. This was just a conversation among a few neighbors at a coffee klutch.

  1. People can make up any name and a seperate e-mail address that no one knows. What are these people afraid of? That's the QUESTION????????????????????????

  2. Hi Bob,
As I have noted in the past; anyone can create an account on a Webmail service like HOTMAIL. They may create an Email Address such as XXX@HOTMAIL.com, using any name they wish.
Then using these, they may create a GMAIL or GOOGLE account and post on the BLOG untraceable.

  4. What a shame! What did I fight for, in a COUPLE of wars! Good people in their later years, trying to enjoy the remainder of life, so INTIMIDATED they are in fear of expressing opinions,in fear of asking questions. My GOD, is this still AMERICA ??? Or, has Century Village become 1936 Nazi Germany !!! The only criteria for EVIL to triumph, is for GOOD people to do NOTHING.

  6. Of course CV people are afraid, look at what Ed Black is going thru, lies, rumors, gossip, not accepted on any committee. CV has a culture of rules and regulations everywhere, aggressive Presidents and Board members and rude staff. Where's the fun! Have you seen the movie “Mean Girls”! Acceptance is paramount to many. Some have been trained in the bossism politics of 60 years ago in NY/NJ. Some people put their heads in the sand and say ‘its paradise’. Many married people seem to have a ‘helplessness ticket’ and would never dream of speaking up. Many are just in poor health.
It will change and the Blog is a big step.

  7. I'm unaware of what Ed is going through but at least Ed has the guts to say what he thinks.I disagree on some issues and agree on others with Ed. There is no excuse , other than illness, for people not taking part in the discussion of issues confronting CV. MIKE

  8. Read Ed's letter in the March UCO Reporter, then read his bio qualifications. Reminds me of Survivor where the weak combine to get rid of the strong.

  9. Ed's letter just reinforces the old adage "Politics Ain't Beanbag", politicians play hardball. Words and actions are always taken out of context by the opposition. Ed is just setting the record straight, which is the only thing he can do. The problem with CV is , the sheep are allowing the same 25 people to run CV year after year and the sheep are getting fleeced. Mike

  11. Hey! Capt. John, When the heady aroma of power rears it's ugly head , neighbors are thrown overboard. Just my opinion and that's what this Blog is all about. I love this Blog. lol

  14. Re. Capt John and neighbors. The most helpful, kid friendly neighbor we had up north was an armed bank robber. Some people here make me wish for armed bank robbers.

  16. I am pleased with the response that my blog titled "Don't Be Afraid To Post" is receiving, and the fact that Dave has removed all IDs that were previously necessary. Way to go, Dave.
