There have been many suggestions on how to select the movies and who should do the selection. It seems that our residents were not pleased with most of the selections. I with some friends have gone to our clubhouse theater to see a movie twice in the past six months. Both times, we were pleased with the selection. This past Sunday, we saw "Fool's Gold" featuring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. Both these actors are current stars. The movie was pleasant, humorous, and we came out feeling up and contented. We did not feel cheated. Now my question: Was I just lucky both times or are people just more difficult to satisfy when the cost is so small? A comment would be appreciated.
Most all the movie are for women (chick flicks), some would say, no action movies. People have been bringing this up for years and it never changes . It sucks , to be quite blunt.

Since you found it so terrible, I don't blame you for walking out. Perhaps it was the people that I was with that made it enjoyable, and not that the movie was good. After 50, I don't think age has anything to do with liking or not liking a film. I am after 50.

ReplyDeleteThe one on counterfit currency does sounds good. I think the problem is that there just haven't been that many good movies being made. Most of them seem to be silly movies for kids or very young adults.

made inthe40-50year era, say for
ex, since we are in electoral
mode MR. SMITH GOES to WASHINGTON,
etc.,etc., movies with so many so
solid performers, a movie perhaps
that took the OSCAR , one that all
can enjoy even without the POPCORN

ReplyDeleteMy friend and I thought Fool's Gold was really funny. We enjoyed it. We also enjoyed Mad Money. What we didn't think was so funny was the movie Sleuth, shown in May and starring Michael Caine. Michael Caine is a great actor, but the amount of obscene, vile language in the first half of the movie (till we walked out) was unbelieveable. We are not prudes, and I have been in the army and heard everything “blue” there is to hear, but this was too much. We wondered how many others left, or perhaps stayed but were uncomfortable and embarrassed. The July and August movies have been better.
