UCO REPORTER RESTRICTIONS

Hi All,
Phyllis Richland posted this in a Comment Stream; with her permission I have made a Post of her input.
Thanks Phyllis,

Dave Israel

I guess we will just have to buy space in the reporter if we want our words heard by the public in the Village.

how interesting that the one time I write a letter to the editor the president refuses to allow the printing of opinions contrary to his or other officers.

Welcome to 1984 and big brother.

What good is the reporter if one cannot voice an opinion in it?

Does censorship ring true to anyone? how dare they , those that sit in a small room and make the decisions as to what gets printed or not.

I was once one of those and thus one of the reasons for my resignation.

God help us all if this continues.

Respectfully submitted by Phyllis Richland

    Truer words were never
    spoken. I am sure that
    the majority at CV agree
    with you.

  2. Welcome back Phyllis, I have been thinking of you.

I think our censorship is a product of today's world, it seems that we cannot disagree with someone we have to hate them if they have a different opinion. I am so sick of the hate that gets spread around but I think we need more of thoughts and ideas on both sides of issues.

I have voted today. Whomever gets into office I will respect and put on my prayer list.

  3. Freedom of the press is a fundamental right written in our constitution. If this would be the Palm Beach Posat or Sun Sentinel or NY Times, I could not agree with you more. However, this is the UCO Reporter- basically a newsletter or bulletin for residents of CV, not sold to the public, and that being the case the editorial board does have a right to set guidelines as to what and what should not be in it. Let's not cry censorship before we see the bigger picture

  4. Hi A Nony Mouse
    Nov 5, 2008 3:48:00 PM,

An interesting opinion, I must say not one that I would expect from an American Citizen; however it is an opinion which is welcome on this BLOG, and not suppressed as are non conforming opinions in the UCO Reporter.

The small knot of autocrats who run the UCO Reporter, which is owned by all Unit Owners of CV, presume to take upon themselves the right to deny other Unit Owners the same right that they exercise with abandon!

Millions died defending this fundamental American right.

It is CENSORSHIP of the most egregious kind, based on non-existent assumed authority; please do not be so quick to roll over in response to such disdainful treatment.

  5. If they continue to insist on censorship, they will only publish what they call "nice " (even if "nice" is a big fat lie). We could start a letter writing campaign to the advertiser and inform them of the UN-AMERICAN behavior of the UCO reporter. How about it ?

  6. The reporter is owned by guess who?
You, me and the countless other
residents of this village, and therefore have the RIGHT TO AIR
    THEIR VIEWS, WITHOUT THE HALLOWED
FEW, WHO HAVE SET THEMSELVES UP AS
    JUDGE AND JURY! Profanity needless
to say, is not acceptable, opposing
    viewpoints, most definitely!

  7. sorry posted too soon, further
more Anny, why hide behind the
    moniker? The others including
    myself have no problem, identifying
    ourselves!
