what’s the TV diff – box, no box

If you DO NOT have the new Comcast set top box you will no longer get the following channels, which were removed from our Basic service and moved onto Digital Starter i.e. the box.
CMT Country Music Channel, now 81/146 on the box
C-Span 2 Senate, 82/104
Oxygen, 83/123
Style, 84/118
ETW religion, 243
Shop NBC, 280
The Digital Starter tier (box) has the above and Channel 1 Video On Demand as explained by Dave – it also has 119 Lifetime Movie Network, extra foreign language channels, weather, 225 Retro, and the testosterone soaked 730 Versus.

See the Lineup card Digital Starter section from Comcast.

  1. Elaine, we don't get 119 and 730. They need to be orderred with an additional charge. If you have them then you are either lucky, paying extra or my box is defective.

  2. Hi Grace
    Aug 2, 2009 9:36:00 AM,

They are included in our Bulk agreement.
    Please send to me at:

    nsasigint@comcast.net

Your name, address, telephone number and a brief description of your complaint and I will forward them to a reliable Technician at Comcast for correction.

  4. Do we really need all these channels? Seems like a lot of junk. They should have left well enough alone.

  5. Yes Anon 4:49, the world does change. Just some folks at CV are stuck back in the 1980s, I guess...

  6. Screw the eighties- I want the seventies back so I can ride around CV on the little train and eat at Morrisons.

  7. Yes the world has changed, but it is a greedy world. Those extra channels don't amount to much.

The so called free movies have all been on HBO many, many times.

The ones they want you to see will cost you.

So, the world has changed, but not for the better.

To Anon. 7:05, get a grip and try to see what is going on here.

  9. Hi Dave & Elaine, I called the phone number posted by Comcast to order the stations. I was not getting any of them. After a very short wait I was instructed to unplug the box, the woman did something on her end and now I have all the stations that we are supposed to get. I wasn't going to do anything now as I am going away for a few months and don't have time to wait for a technician. I thank you both as well. Have a great day!

  10. I see the same five people (all anons) are kvetching here again. Considering the hundreds and thousands who are doing fine with Comcast at CV, nothing to worry about !

  11. to anon 9:40

If there are only 5 people always complaining, why are we having someone from comcast come and show us how to use the remote?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Some anon advocated leaving cable as-was. Look at the channel lineup for our previous basic service, Comcast marks 31 channels “Subject to Change”. In Comcast speak that means “may be removed”. If left as-was channels would continue to transfer away to digital. Most villagers did not want that. There were howls of rage when the first seven were removed.

  13. Because anon 10:25, some CVers can't find their backsides with both hands!

  14. Well Anon 10:56 you must have been standing when you typed that.

  15. Hi A Nony Mouse / Sy Lutto
    Aug 3, 2009 8:19:00 AM,

Actually you received exactly what we contracted for. Clearly you have not taken the new box, because you had a pre-existing box of greater value.
Your reduction results from of an offset by the wholesale value ascribed to the box that you did not take.

  16. Oh, for Pete's sake, just get rid of that stupid contract with a Comcast and let us choose our own provider.
    What is this? A socialismus?
Are we going to be told what to eat for a breakfast because it is the best for the C.V.?
Enough of these hidden communists ideas!
Down with the power of the few "elected" harebrains!
Viva la revolucion, or whatever it is mexes say.
Oh, by by the way, if it was not for this horrible Comcast flop, this board would be boring.

It sounds like you want more anarchy and confusion than CV is already well known for.

Too many rogue CV Associations do what they want now; let their property go to hell (see Easthampton in particular); pay no attention to delegate meetings, etc., etc.

  18. Nix to anarchy, hoorey for oligarchy. Too many c.v. associations are led by, putting it very mildly, mentally incapable.
    Unfamiliar with the Easthampton,
but understand the desire of many associations to break from the heavy handed, unresponsive, elected with a force of baseball bats management of a c.v.

  19. How to see the free movies:

    1) Go to Channel 1

    2) Use the arrow keys on the remote to select FREE MOVIES then press the red button on the remote

    3) Select desired category with combination of arrows and red button on the remote

    4) Select WATCH to see movie or GO BACK if you changed your mind

If you are still confused, wait for the September class on the remote.
