NEW X-WORD BY DAVE

Hi All,

herewith a new X-Word puzzle. There were no correct solutions received for last weeks X-Word.

This weeks puzzle has easier clues but this is offset a bit by it being very large. I hope you enjoy the puzzle.

See if you can find the CV birds that I have embedded in the puzzle.

Here is the Site;

http://www.mycrosswords.com/824/DavidBIsrael/Untitled.html

I will also put it at the Side-Bar, at the end on the left.

Dave

Would you be so kind as to
    print the correct answers
to your puzzle for I would
    like to see my errors.

    Thanks.

  2. Love the puzzle...Thanx....however the numbers in the boxes are too small to be readable. Or maybe my eyeballs have shrunk like other parts of my old carcass.

  3. Hi A Nony Mouse,

Try pressing on the "CTRL" key while rolling the Mouse wheel forward, this should zoom in and increase the Grid size and of course the numbers.

  4. Hi Nutmegger Et-Al,

    A few points about the Interactive Puzzle;

I am aware that some folks get frustrated with the puzzle, so I have provided for instant relief, if desired.

At the bottom of the X-word grid there are three buttons.

    If you click on any square in the grid; first of all, the Clues will adjust to take you to that spot;

If you are stuck, Click on
"Reveal Letter". If that does not help, click on "Reveal Word" Clicking twice at any square will change direction from Across to Down or vice-Versa.

If you wish, plow thru the entire puzzle and then print it out; then you may Log Off; then return to a blank grid and Click on every word and "Reveal Word" to give you the entire correctly solved puzzle.

Print that out and compare it to your original solution to see how you did.

  5. Hi All,

If the larger puzzle creates numbers to small to read, please so Comment, and henceforth I will make smaller puzzles.

On my screen there is no appreciable difference, but I have a 24 inch monitor.

Also, the "Ctrl" / Scroll roll process does not work on the Interactive puzzles.

So, I suspect that those with screens smaller that 17 inches may have problems.

    Dave

    Thanks

  6. Hi Dave, this is my type of puzzle. I love the hints, answers on the bottom. But on my monitor, I don't see the numbers in the box at all.

Am I missing something? My monitor is a 19".

    thank you,
    chris

  7. I thought Chris was coconutty until I opened the xword in a half screen box and there were no numbers at all. Numbers were there when I went to full screen, I can also zoom in using the Vista 'page' icon, at upper right of toolbar.
I'm back, I was at Disney "the happiest place in the world". Need to catch up on chores before I can crossword.

  8. Hi All,

The lack of numbers is not correct; try refreshing the Browser window and waiting for the entire site to download.

  9. David:

I followed your instructions to find the
    answers to your puzzzle and
    I found that I had 1 error
which is 22 across. I wrote rider and it should
    be fiver. That doesn't
    merit any compliment just
    having 1 error. You are
    a hard judge. How many
    entries did you receive.
How many had 1 to 3 errors.
    Don't you think they should
    have also received a merit
of a compliment. I certainly do. There was a
lot of work and time trying
    to solve your puzzle.

  10. Hi Nutmegger,
Actually, there was only one "solution" received by Snail Mail.

With the Instant Gratification buttons at the bottom of the Interactive puzzle, submitting results makes little sense.

Please, just enjoy and get a little Cerebral exercise, it will keep you young.

    I do not know internet
    language. I do not know
what snail mail is. I may
    be bright in doing puzzles
but I am finding out I am
    real stupid with the
    internet and its language.
    Instant Gratification
    Buttons mean Greek to me.
    Apparently you don't think
    that someone who works
hard to do one of your
    puzzles and get only one
    error in my opinion should
get a tiny bit of praise.
    Thanks for your praise.

  12. Hi Nutmegger,
I think we are all learning a lot of new phrases on this blog site. I'm right there with you! By "snail mail", I'm pretty sure that Dave meant by the regular United States postal mail. Meaning, that because you can click on the bottom button to have the correct answer filled in for you immediately, it's doesn't make sense to mail him your puzzle anymore.
You are amazing that you only got one wrong. These puzzles are way too much for me, but I'm still trying. Well done! Congratulations!!

  13. WHO YOU CALLING "COCONUTTY" ???
I got the numbers now! Thanks very much to Elaine for her advice. Lately my screen isn't opening quite all the way, but not enough to really notice it. But when I hit the middle button on the top right, sure enough, I got the numbers.
So Elaine, I thank you and forgive you for calling me "coconutty". At first I "resembled" that remark (remember that guy, forgot his name)

  14. What is the purpose of this
    puzzle when you can click
    on "reveal word" and put
    your clicker on the puzzle
space and it types in the
    answer. I did this new
puzzle in less than 5 minutes this morning. What
is the challenge....you don't even have to tax your
    brain for the answer. The
last puzzle I worked on for
at least 3 days and ended
up with one error. I can't
    believe that nobody got
    the puzzle 100% correct.
    How is that possible when
with a click of the mouse
    the answer is there.

  15. Hi Nutmegger, I haven't been participating in the blog in the few days. Have had very busy, stressful days and little sleep. Last night was asleep by 8:30 pm. Boy did I need it.
But read your comment this morning and wanted to comment.

First of all, again I say - you are amazing. I think these puzzles are killers! The first one I totally gave up on. You must be in Dave's league - brainwise!! He won't be replying to you because I believe he is offline now preparing for surgery. Did you see his blog about the hip replacement? He make these puzzles himself and I think he put the answer in on the bottom to help those of us who needed help. I'm one of those people.
So, I guess the answer to what's the purpose? Just for fun and self growth - in you case - self satisfaction. Again, my congratulation! Wish I could do that. Meanwhile, I struggle on.
Have a good day great puzzle solver,
    chris
