WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO RUN FOR THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT OF UCO?
This is a question I’ve been asking myself for several months now. Most of the time the answer has been “do not run for office, run as fast as you can, go in the opposite direction. Now go faster!
The balance of the time I have felt guilty knowing how little most of the unit owners know about the financial situations in the Village. I’ve decided to try to inform as many folks as possible and if you appreciate the answers perhaps together we can change the present course. WOW! CHANGE. Isn’t that the buzzword today?
Most are not totally aware of the status of the arbitration situation. The full facts have not been published in the lawsuit between WPRF and George.
Some assume that the money put into the WPRF budget this year will pay for the erosion situation. I’ve been told that the survey is complete and being analyzed but the real question will be “what is the total cost”?
Where is the money coming from to repay the reserve fund or roads and bridges? When should this happen? When is it budgeted for?
Come to the blog (http://davesblogandchat.blogspot.com/),
identify yourself, ask your question and I’ll attempt to answer it.
Let’s educate and enhance the knowledge of the unit owners.

Hi Bob, My Name is Norma and I am using my sisters computer. How do you intend to get the "word" out, certainly not on this blog, it is not user friendly and not many people are on. I feel you have been too quiet this past year, and if you are to get elected you need to get your message across and fast!!!!! I think you would be a good president, that is why our building nominated you, don't let us down.
Many, many thanks for being willing to communicate here.I would like to get some $numbers, time lines, and your ideas on the big ticket items.
1.Arbitration/law suits?
2. Erosion?
3.Taj Mahal, does it need to be ever larger in this time of computer efficiencies?
4.Insurance?
Feel free to make each a separate post.
I’ll be back later with more questions on transparency, communication, empty units..

Bob, May we have your bio here, rather than waiting for the UCO Reporter. TIA
Thank you for your kind words.
I will be talking with anyone or any organization that will listen.
I hope that many people will ask questions. I will answer to the best of my ability.
It will be a large task but the residents need additional information and perhaps a different view of some of the ongoing discussions.
It is my opinion that many half truths are being stated and the real truth needs to be stated.
While we all learn how to use this blog more efficiently, if you read something that has good information, print it out and put it on your building bulletin board.
Again thanks for your kind words.

Hello Bob, glad to hear from you again. It will be a pleasure to read you on all the issues that we are facing in the Village. The budget needs to be better explained and the construction of a new UCO building needs to be re-examined again.
By the way while you are running away I hope it is on a circular field track and that you will end up running for UCO. Think again seriously Bob because CV needs someone like you and ED Black in office. Thanks Andre
Andre
Bob did not run far as he was nominated for UCO President at the delegate ass'y this am. Now we just have to get out the vote.
Bob, Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and your bio with us. I must say, it is very, very impressive. I look forward to hearing much more of the issues by way of this wonderful blog. I also very much liked the idea of posting important issues on our building bulletin board. I never thought of that! Again, thank you for being so open with us. One thought that I have to disagree with, is that this website is not user friendly. I think it is extremely easy to use.
Thank you again, Chris
Hi Bob, While You and Ed were running UCO , on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest . How would you rate yourself and your board on transparency and free flow of information reaching the unit owners? Thanks, Mike
Mike, thanks for your thoughts and your question. It is an excellent one and deserves the best answer that I can give you.
"How would I rate the communications of "my" previous administration?
I'll give two answers to that question. When comparing to previous administrations I'd rate it very, very high. However with hind site and the limitations imposed upon "us" by the hurricanes it was not as great as I'd have liked. After all, we had no place to meet! While we tried to communicate via the newspaper and by posting to bulletin boards that had limited success because of timing schedules. For example, the deadline for submission to the newspaper is about the 7th of the month it typically is not delivered until about the 20th. We had no Channel 63 at all. The chair of that committed had informed us that it could not possibly be up and operating until the Clubhouse reopened.
Again, thanks for the dialog.
Elaineb, thanks for you interest and your questions.
I need to do some research before commenting on most of your items. Yes, I have opinions on all of them but I'd like to make sure my opinions are based on facts. (Goodness, what a concept!)
The arbitration process and the potential results are bone chillingly expensive. We already have an example with the results of attempting to move the WPRF/George suit to the Federal Court.
More information on the listed subjects will be forthcoming ASAP.
Thanks for your input.
Chrisj, thanks for your comments.
Please notice that the resume is very heavy in Management.
I learned a long time ago that when a task is assigned to an individual it is management's responsibility to get out of the way and let the assigned person do their job. They may not go about the task the way I might but by traveling a different road they may learn something that I was unaware of.
Yes, they may need some gentle nudging or help along the way but micromanaging is never the way I would go.
Again, thanks for your participation.
