We do need that for those 'dave words'. I do not know if the links below will show but all titles are/were links.
If you need to charm someone try -
Bartleby -- Famous quotes and full poetry texts
Or impress someone -
MathWorld -- Everything mathematics from Geometry to Calculus is covered in great detail
GeoHive and Fedstats -- Public access to public agency statistics
Theoi and Encyclopedia of Mythology -- Excellent resources on the subject of mythology and ancient religions
http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Main_PageCitizendium -- More “professional” Wikipedia, although usually not as detailed
Answers.com -- Makes use of the information on Wikipedia and many other reference sites to become a one stop shop
http://www.epodunk.com/ePodunk -- Information about cities and places
http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Main_PageEncyclopedia Britannica -- An excellent source of information, and much more authoritative than Wikipedia.
Scholarpedia -- A step up from both Wikipedia and Citizendium in terms of scholarly respectability; the articles are all written by experts with peer review
Wikiseek -- Wikipedia with a better search engine
Online Education Database -- Over 100 specific search and research tools, often relevant to specific subjects
Glossary of Poetic Forms -- You too can know the difference between a Canto and a Cento
Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy and Foldop -- Excellent sources on just about anything philosophy related
Religion Online -- An excellent, excellent resource filled with many primary texts
I ain't smart enough for all that stuff.
What is the absolute fastest way to look up a word, I have a dictionary in favorites, and you can use a toolbar search box ‘word define’. Is there a toolbar icon that involves only typing the ‘word’? I have a maybe memory of such a thing.
I currently have a Yahoo and a Google toolbar up.
Has anyone had this happen to them? I use a word that is very common to use and once in awhile I'm not sure if I'm spelling it right. Scary
Hi Elaine,
You may find this site interesting; play with the various combinations of Definition and Translation options.

ok - since you are all being so honest, I am going to come clean too. I don't know what the word (well lots of words actually) - but right now am only admitting to not knowing what the word "nony" means. Dave keeps referring to "nony mouse" when someone posts as Anonymous. I looked it up in that website Mike posted and also looked in the dictionary. Can't find out what it means.
Dave if you are out there would you explain? Thanks.
Chris
Mike - that happens to me too. A word I have typed or writen 100 times and all of a sudden it doesn't look right to me. I think we all drive ourselves a little crazy - or maybe we are just crazy. Am not sure which!
lol, Chris
Thanks Chris, At least I'm not the only one . Mike
Hi Chrisj,
No need to work so hard, it's just a bit of poetic license with the word;
Anonymous, just break it up and add an 'e"
A Nony Mouse.....
Dave
I like it. Very charming. Thank's Dave.
sounds warm, endearing.

Dave - That's another fine dictionary you've gotten us into. http://www.foreignword.com/Tools/dictsrch.htm
But it doesn't have 'Hey nony, nony-no'
That was possibly the most popular chorus ever from the year 1, thru Shakespeare, etc. until recently replaced by 'duh wop a duh wah!'
I got a girl name of Boney Maroney
She's as skinny as a stick of macaroni
Oughta see her rock'n'roll with her blue jeans on
She's not very fat, just skin and bo-o-one
Hey Boney Maroney
