Haverhill Gate

I asked Larry K. and Pat B. at UCO this question some months ago (last May, in fact)---when will the Haverhill gate walls be cleaned up/painted? They are a mess. Pat B. from UCO said he had a proposal for UCO for this task, but nothing has been done. Anybody have any updates? Thanks.

I fully agree that this wall should be cleaned or upgraded and myself I have writen on the CV Forum on this, months ago. The beautification committee shpould look into this. We need to keep pushing. Andre

Its great that you guys are interested in looking after these things. Call UCO, find out where and when the Infrastructure Cmte mtg is, and go. You will get a better idea of the big problems they are up against, and the sorry state of budgeting for these items. You would think every addition like lights, painting, etc. would have a matching maintenance budget for ongoing care. Hmmm maybe!
This proposing and budgeting takes years.
I don’t think it is Beautification but pressure there too wouldn’t hurt.

Why can't we scale down on
spending 2M for a Taj Mahal
UCO building and take some
of that money and beautify
the brick wall at the east
gate. The wall looks like
it belongs in the ghetto.
The east wall is the
structure that needs
beautification and certainly not this
granduuuuuuuuuuuuuuer
UCO office.

Just wondering where the 2M figure came from for the new UCO office?

I completely agree with you. I also suggest that the first island as you enter the village be redone. All it needs is removing the ugly stone and planting grass plugs, and getting rid of the cheap plastic border. Painting and grass plugs is not nearly as costly as many of these other projects such as trees and hedging.

They will make a much bigger improvement and will be noticed by everyone.

We are mildew town. That is preposterous to need a proposal for a little cleaning, surely we have a maintenance company for our public areas. ‘Need a proposal’ sounds like an excuse, just like associations get from certain maintenance companies. If there is ever a national shortage of excuses, we know who has them.
Infrastructure, Maintenance, and Beautification Cmtes mtgs were last week :-(

I do not think that UCO has a maintenance cleaning contractor. It does have contractors to mow and keep up the perimeter roads and entrances.

It is not as simple as just washing the walls at Haverhill. Next question? Is cleaning these walls the most important item that needs attention in the Village?

What a ridiculous question. Obviously, maintenance is not in YOUR vocabulary.

Who cleans the guard bldgs, gates, and Plymouth laundry?

Dear anonymous: The Haverhill gate walls are a mess. It detracts from the entire village seeing that easily correctable situation. It is a sad commentary on UCO that this is not addressed.
