Recent upheavals amongst our local homeless are resolved. I talked with one them ‘el Jefe’, not his real name. I thought he lived in CV, but not so, although he does currently have a place to stay. He calls standing at the intersection with a sign Flyin’. You will be glad to know the homeless interlopers from Lk Worth have been moved on, also any homeless who go bad and steal are moved on too. Our locals frown on those who make inaccurate claims to be injured vets. Some ‘work’ the gas stations etc. but the flyers at the intersections feel superior. Jefe has regular friends/helpers, one gives him cast off designer shirts and $5/week, so Jefe is looking for more friends and carpentry work. I now know about homeless at the beach, the county park and those who sleep under the 441 Southern flyover. I know who gets hassled by which police. I guess I have a new friend, now that will be $5/week :-0

Great stuff Elaine, I gotta meet Jefe
THERE, BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD ...
Right on Capt.
Elaine, you are one friendmaking gal! Great, interesting post.
I think I will try to do one this weekend concerning all the current political stuff going on (nationally - not locally). I'd love to read everyone's opinions. about that and all today's news. That pologomy thing breaks my heart. I feel so sorry for those women and children. The women are victims just as much as the children are.
I give very generously to various causes throughout the world. However I donot understand why these homeless people donot go to the various charities. My problem with giving on the streets is that many use the money for their habits such as drugs and alcohol.
What is wrong with the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, Goodwill Industries etc. etc. I just wonder if a donation on the streets is the best way to assist these people.
I donot mean to disparage Elaines sincerity. At least she is doing more than talk and I wish her success.
Who am I to say someones habits are bad, catholic charities and the Sally don't have cocktail hour or crack hour.
Franco, Where the hell have you been, this blog has gone to seed without you.
anon can go ask them him/herself, they are often in the bus shelter on the s. side of Okeechobee near the Tpk entrance. But I think you elder statesmen covered it.
franko, don't know you, don't think I care too, don't think we live in a white ghetto, don't think I'd like you living in my building. But welcome back to the blog anyway.
Chris, Polygamy is good, men need 5or 6 women incase one is tired and has a headache or doesn't want to cook and clean, the others will fulfill there assignments .

If I was younger , I'd say Old Hef has the right idea. Five or six , no way now. Mike LOL
Oh Mike, you talk like you're a little old 120 year old man! You're just a young whippersnapper! (what ever the heck that mean - but it sounded good).
Polygamy, Old Hef, chuckle, chuckle, chuckle...
lol
Hi Elaine:
The truth is asking a drug addict if they are on drugs will never get to the truth. Take it from me! I had a cousin who was addicted to
heroin, who has since passed on, he never gave us a straight answer! I'm sure the same holds true for many of these people who you say they are homeless and I'm sure most are homeless.
The best people and most qualified for taking care of these unfortunates are the professionals, be it the hospitals or the charities.
Unfortunately many of these homeless only use the money given them to support their dependency.
Given the above I do admire your getting involved. Most people just give lip service to these worthy causes.
I did charity work for almost 14 years with a reputable charity. I think that perhaps thats a better way to serve.
