Swallow-Tailed Kite

First one I ever saw - large elegant bird in CV yesterday. Graceful black and white swooping around - Hawk and Eagle, family wingspan over 4'. The more mature the bird, the longer the V tail. It stopped by for lunch, 2 baby mockingbirds and 2 lizards. (They also eat large insects and snakes). I was looking forward to watching the mockingbirds grow in the nest in my orange tree (sigh).

What a treat...Thanks for sharing that. I have enjoyed birds since I learned to fly. Sorry about the hummingbirds. Len

Hi Elane,
Thanks for another great nature picture and story. I think you should have been a Nature writer during your working days - or maybe you were...

I sure am glad you are back on line. We missed you. I am looking forward to hearing about your cable story tonight.

See you at 6:00 pm!

Len, are you a pilot?

I love to watch the birds too. Even when I am at the stop light at Military and Okeechobee in the winter season, when you look up - there are always hundreds and hundreds of them on the electric wires. I have started to carry crackers with me and when I go into Walmart and places like that, I throw some crackers for the birds. I just can't figure out where they get all their food.

But I guess that's nature.
