MEETING NOTICES - CHANNEL 63

Hi All,
In order to preclude the need to watch the entire schedule on CVTV - 63, Ed has placed Meeting notices around the start of each and every hour.

So, if you tune in at 5 minutes before the hour; all meetings will be presented in the slot up to about 5 minutes past the hour.

These same meeting announcements are also scattered throughout the schedule, in order to comply with the FS-718 requirement to notice meetings in broadcast media at least 4 times per hour.

So, if you are in a hurry; tune in 5 minutes before any hour to get the 411 on meetings.

thanks Ed.

This is for ED:Thank you for posting the meeting notices on channel 63 at a set time each hour so we don't have to watch the whole program. Dave in his posting refered to FS 718 requirement, and that where my curiosity was aroused. Up until a short time ago, UCO kept insisting that FS 718 did not apply to them. My question to you is whether the compliance to FS 718 was  your idea or did UCO finally see the light. Is it possible that you are leading by example in hope that the rest will follow you ? If there has been such a MAJOR CHANGE, please inform all of us.

The station looks and sounds terrific! I very much like the idea of meeting notices at the start of each hour. Thank you all for your hard work!

63 is improving every day, white lettering on rich color background, me likes. Busy letters on crazy background was too confusing. Four runs of UCO mtgs is a lot but I understand now that is legal requirement. I think there is artist now working this.

Hi Rosa J
Sep 1, 2008 8:18:00 AM,

In one of our earliest get togethers in the Channel 63 room to strategize on the "new Channel 63",

It occurred to Ken, Ed and I that the requirement in FS 718 for Noticing by Broadcast means required a minimum of 4 showings per hour; it is good to know the Law and to be consistent with it's requirements.

This seemed consistent with the new Open Meeting and Government in the Sunshine spirit in UCO.

As such, I feel this is part of a significant change and I hope it encourages many to attend meetings.

I hope this is but the beginning of major upgrades and improvements to our Community Information Channel; CVTV - 63.

Such things as live people on the Channel, CV oriented News Broadcasts, Interviews, Movies, Real time coverage of events, Etc...
Hopefully these sorts of ideas will come before the Delegate Assembly in due course for approval and solicitation of ideas.

Dear Dave,

Thank you for trying to answer my question. It appears I did not make myself clear enough.

I gleened from your posting that UCO was finally following FS 718.
From your comment I see that my assumption was wrong.

You stated that you, Ken and Ed made this decision.

So how are we, the people, to know when is UCO following FS 718 or FS 617 ?

These decisions, however good intentioned, have created the confusing situation this village finds itself in. Making it up as you go is no longer acceptable. And hiding under the mantle of FS 718 , for whatever reason, is also not acceptable.

718.112-(2)-(c) and (d) applies to condominium associations. The law is not a rubber band.

Hi Rosa J
Sep 1, 2008 10:38:00 AM,

Interesting take; consider, in what follows, that I am not President of UCO.

I am on the EB, The Security Committee, The Advisory Committee and am Cable Committee Chair.

I can only follow my personal guidance system in such cases as this.

The decision was very much incidental to cleaning up and rendering CVTV - 63 more useful, and we felt compliant with relevant law; remember that All Not-for-Profit Condo associations are governed by FS - 718 And where not contradictory FS - 617 as well; remember, CVTV - 63 is also governed ultimately by FCC regulations, which are a whole other ball of wax.

Neither Ken, Ed or myself take well to micro-management, which is to say that we do not vet every minor action with the Chain-of Command.

Which is further to say that save our direct interaction with Ken, a UCO VP, we have no idea what the other Officers of UCO think about such low level and incidental technical decisions regarding CVTV - 63 operations.

IMHO, while UCO is organized under FS - 617, their daily activities involve direct interface with our Condo Associations, which are governed by both FS - 718 and FS - 617; hence I feel it is absurd to ignore the implications of both statutes if there is no contradiction.

I hope I have been sufficiently obscure!

Spirit of the law is fine by me.
"we do not vet every minor action with the Chain-of Command" you are toast HA HA

Yes Dave, you have been sufficiently obscure.

To anonymous 11:50,
Claiming the spirit of the law when that law does not apply is showing that you don't have guts enough to show your own corruption.
