REMOVAL OF NEGATIVE POSTS FROM THE BLOG

Hi All,
An interesting Post in the BLOG calls for the removal of all negative (attack ) Posts. Thirty plus years in the Intelligence Community has given me a deep rooted respect for data gathering and the integrity of "The Record", modifying The Record presages a slippery slope that may raise some concern. The following quatrain occurs:

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all your Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it

However, I fully understand the motivation for this request and the need to heal the divisions in our Village. Therefore as a reasonable accomodation to this request I shall shortly launch a Poll to gather the sense and desire of our BLOGGERS on this issue. Comments are also sincerely requested so as to examine both sides of the issue. This issue raises the censorship flag and we need to think this move over carefully.

Ah, Love! could thou and I with Fate conspire
To grasp this sorry scheme of UCO entire!
Would not we shatter it to bits - and then
Re-mould it nearer to the Heart's Desire!

Wait, wait, has an improved Q&A been restored to Ken Davis?

The good thing about the Blog is that you only see the last few posts, it sounds as if they will be fresh and positive from now on. Keep your eyes on the recent and new.

On the other hand the archive contains very valuable ideas for those who need to refer to them and have slow memories. Do not throw out the baby with the bathwater. No-one is qualified to censor. Imagine some people who would classify everything as negative.

This BLOG is for the use of Century Village residents and those interested in Condominium issues of concern to them. Any user may ask a question or provide information that they feel is of value to the BLOG users. No subject is "Off Limits", No one is banned, and No opinion is supressed.

I am not for censorship but I am all for deleting comments that are personally hateful.

Keep the ones that have different opinions which some would consider negative.

The blog is fine the way it is. Spam is posted, we see it , it's removed. Spam control is one thing but removal of negative posts is sensorship. Free speech was the purpose of the blog. Leave it alone.

We seem to have intelligent people, on the blog and I am sure
they also want the village united...You might get a few negatives but we will judge for ourselves..OPEN...OPEN to speak ones mind was the reason this blog works....NO CENSORSHIP!!

What is one persons trash is another's treasure.

Before we begin to delete perhaps we should define negative posts and publish the definition and then begin to think about whether to delete or not.

Let's get on with the healing process but also look at the process as it changes (or not).

Life is simple , If things inprove in CV, negativity will evaporate for the most part.

Don't do it Dave. Follow your first instinct. It usually is the right one.

I am not sure what is meant by negative posts. The blog should allow all points of view even if its unpopular. The blog allows us to state our position even if our position is unpopular. Remember "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defendyour right to say it." Negativism is important so that we can understand other peoples opinions. It also allows us the opportunity to show them the error of their ways. So please keep it open.

I only advocated removing messages that are hostile, namecalling, such as reference to the amount of "guts" that a person has. This amounts to an attack. No one should be attacked for disagreeing. Legitimate civil disagreement of the status quo is, and should be, acceptable.
