Hello all.
We have a one bedroom unit here in CV with 1 and 1/2 baths. We really need to redo the tub but need some advice. One of the ways we are considering is a tub to shower conversion. One of the concerns we have is if doing so would impact the resale value. Any thoughts? Has anyone used Bath Fitter or ReBath?

I had my old bathroom tile stripped and replaced, it revealed rusting parts. I think the Bath Fitter just covers up problems and mold, also it could make replacing the shower and bath plumbing more difficult. These are only my assumptions but would make the Bath Fitter a negative if I was buying (i.e. what is it hiding). My tile guys were great but moved beyond Okeechobee.
I have had two bathrooms gutted and showers installed. I have been very happy with the results for several years now. Get a contractor that knows what they are doing and will meet building codes. Mine are tiled, I think if I were doing one now, I would look for a non-grout wall covering. I have neighbors who did their own and tiled the whole bathroom including ceiling. I would like that as my paint is starting to peel. I think it will improve salability as showers are so much easier to get in and out of.
BAth fitters, etc. removes/replaces any problem areas and old pipes when you do a complete conversion with them. We are very satisfied.

I would also go with Bath fitters. I know they do an excellent job. You mentioned that buying from someone that had the work done would raise the question "What is it hiding?" What do you expect is underneath that? These places are old , what do you expect is behind these walls and up in the crawl space? Believe me you would not want to know.
Someone that had new bathrooms, would be an asset to thee places believe me. It makes for a good selling point, wheter you gut the bathroom or go with bath fitters. Both are excellent choices.
