Dumpster Decorations

A week or two ago some one commented on the fact that the trash removal company changed their name and put the new name on the front of the dumpsters, leaving us to look at the same unattractive green boxes everywhere.
I suggest that UCO sponsor a contest to encourage those of us who have the slightest artistic talent to decorate the dumpsters with bright colors, flower drawings, rainbows, etc. to make them more visually attractive. I think we do have a beautification committee. Possibly a small prize could be awarded to the most attractive finished product. In other words--lets make lemonade out of lemons!!--

Beautify Veolia

UCO has said satellite dishes and bus shelters are not aesthetic in CV. Have they noticed the LARGE Veolia signs on every dumpster. Do you prefer the sign or the rusty dumpster?
Onyx was renamed Veolia to give the company a new look and feel? you may prefer it as a foreign stock VE, average safety, hi yield. Veolia Environnement is headquartered in Paris, France.
Beautification Cmte could probably ask for more modest, less contrast, less intrusive, signs for our residential neighborhood.

Here come the Magnolias and Live Oaks. Many thanks to all involved in beautifying the village. It makes a wonderful difference. Now people cannot say ‘CV looks like an Air Force Base!’

Is CSI finding bodies on Lincoln Street?? No, it is digging for another high tech SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) installation – that is an upgraded sewer lift pumping station for the NW corner of the village.

Question of Benches

If you pressure wash/paint the building please include bench. However, who paints those on UCO property, roads, swales etc.? Do associations know whose is whosit. Looks as if it is better not to paint concrete. (Looks worse actual)

Okeechobee Entrance

I love the nice little curvy walkway and the colorful benches that have been put in near the Okeechobee entrance just before your reach South Drive. It really looks great, very inviting.

Busy Bench

In previous post Denise noted no-one is sitting on new 7 benches. In my opposite quiet corner of CV we love our bench (again - thx to Haskell Morin). It was scruffy but we painted it. It is not just a bus stop, it is a meeting spot, people come to chat, sunbathe, soak up the sun, smoke, etc. it is rarely empty. Maybe because we have no pool, no waterfront, no sidewalk, it is our high point for those who do not want a longer walk.

Whence did 7 Benches + tra la come from, was it a Dover project or the Beauty Cmte? I had thought the Beauty Cmte was placing single benches evenly around the whole waterview village.

Secret Gardens of CV

These are great even on dull days. I would like to know why gardenias and hibiscus in Windsor are twice the usual size? Thank goodness for gardeners.

Best Landscaped Building Competition

Best Landscaped Building Competition is fine idea from Beautification Cmte. May I suggest that any building with an unshielded a/c or dumpster is automatically a loser. Too many naked a/c around CV. Years ago they were all screened by hedges, now people seem to have forgotten that. So please buy ½ dozen cocoplums or some such. Bring the greenery back. This one actually belongs to a building with an extravagant patio, but they have not beautified for passersby on the perimeter road yet.
