COMPUTER USAGE IN CV AND BEYOND

Posted by Picasa
Computer and INTERNET usage by demographic, per US Census 2000 data

In a Comment stream, Margaret asks:
-
"what's the percentage of residents who do have home internet access? just curious."
-
This question has been asked in the BLOG before, but here goes!
-
The graphic above breaks down the statistics of usage by age and various other categories. It is clearly dated, but I would doubt is has changed much since publication in 2002.
-
Short of a survey, this is as close as we will get to real numbers.

Vista killed Outlook Express

I suddenly found my email would not send and I had Windows Mail instead of my Outlook Express, I searched programs etc, after much struggle and blaming the grandchildren and McAffee I found this online
"What happened to Outlook Express? If you used Windows B.V. (Before Vista), you might be surprised to discover that Outlook Express no longer exists. It's been tarted up a bit and renamed. Welcome to Windows Mail. "
Yes I was surprised, dummies!! after tools, accounts, servers, settings, authentication it sends ok.

Yes its still me. This tourist stuff is exhausting, I was glad to sit and blog awhile. I should be out of reach after Sunday, anonymous can only hope...

WILL NOT WORK WITH VISTA

Sic transit another HP product – my beautiful Scanner with slide attachment, HP ScanJet 5370C. ‘We are sorry to inform you that there will be no Windows Vista support available for your HP product. Therefore your product will not work with Windows Vista. Please consider upgrading to a newer HP product that is supported on Windows Vista.’
HA, ha, ha. I haven't the money to throw away right now, sorry. Hours of trying to initialize HP! After searching I used a trial version of VueScan, it worked but has watermark. I would like to thank other people online with the same problem for enlarging my vocabulary of epithets for HP.

VISTA BLUES

I have been getting a deluge of bad luck (including the Patriots.) So here I am again with a new pc and Vista. The most popular FAQ on Vista is "Can I uninstall it". Ahah!
I refuse to buy $150 new software to go with Vista.
I refuse to pay HP to solve their own problems on my old pc.
I refuse to pay MS svc pac 2 ditto.
I paid $40 for an unreturnable transfer cable which will not work because I do not have svc pac 2 etc.
If anyone has been down the Vista road transferring WP docs from XP let me know if you are available for occasional questions.
I could just use notepad or join CVCC! TIA
