Cappuccino's

Where a cup of coffee is a cup of coffee. The food is great. The price, like all the eateries these days, becoming on the upper side. The reason for this blog is I mentioned Cappuccino as a place with black mold existing inside the cover of the grated cheese containers on each table. I was greatly disgreed with. Well, I sat at a table, opened the cheese container, surely enough, the top was black with mold, but unlike in the past, I went to another table and opened the container there. It was clean. So, I have come to the conclusion they clean them every so often, but not all at once. I took a napkin and cleaned the inside of the cover. I will go back there and do the same thing because their food and their parmigian tastes great.

GUN CLUB CAFE

We recently went into the new Gun Club Cafe at the Crosstown Plaza on Community and Military. It has been renovated very nicely. The waitresses were very friendly. We were four. Food was great. We met a few people from our village there. All in all, it is great. Now, let's talk about prices. The bill for breakfast for the four of us, including tip, came to $40. Now that's $10 a piece.

Let's compare this to Bagels and More just across on Okee. The food is always great. We meet dozens of people from our village. Everyone is friendly. The customers, the waitresses, even the owner at times sits down with us and jokes around. Now, the bill: It tops $4 plus $1 for tip for $5. That means it is one-half the price of GCC. B&M is the best buy and you meet the best friends and have a better time. That's how I feel; how do you?

Restaurant Review

Recently I went to City Pizza west of the village. The pizza wasn't exactly New York quality, but I could eat it.

What places would you recommend?

Macaroni Grill

If you haven’t been to the Macaroni Grill on 441 in front of the Wellington Mall, give it a try. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is festive. I had eggplant parmesan that was terrific for $10.79. It comes with a side of pasta of your choice. They put a loaf of wonderful rosemary bread on the table and pour some tasty olive oil in a dish for dunking of the bread. To add a salad is an extra $1.99, choice of caesar or mixed. The caesar was very nice. Terrific place, very clean, wonderful Italian music (the classics) playing in the background. I like it a lot. And by the way Flynn, the parmesan is brought to the table by the waiter/waitress. They grate it on your plate to your specifications. So you won’t find any “moldy parmesan” hanging around. Give it a try if you are up for a ride. I am pretty sure you will like it. It could be a good choice for the next blog party.
Ciao for now!

Crisper's

Crisper's, a restaurant in a mall across the street from Sonny's restaurant on Okeechobee Boulevard. Clean, lots of tables and chairs. You go to the counter, place your order, sit down and a young girl will deliver it to you. The selection is great and large. The prices are reasonable. It is managed by a man named Bob Tanner. If some of you can remember, he had a restaurant named Randy's in one of the malls near us. It's approximately a seven to eight minute drive west on Okeechobee and the turnpike. They have eight different kinds of soup, many salads, many meat sandwiches, flatbreads, also a variety of drinks, coffees, teas, sodas. They also have a good selection of cakes and cookies for dessert. They may have more, but I was not interested in looking for more. No one rushes you. You can ask for Bob Tanner, the former owner of Randy's in one of the malls on Village Boulevard. Elaine, take a ride. I think you'll enjoy it. The best thing is you don't have to worry about the parmesan. They don't have any.

Double check, best Italian food

Chris and I made a spur of the moment trip to Paisano’s. We believe Capt John (5/26) but we had to check the cheese dispenser, it was pristine, Luigi from Palermo assured us that he cleans it daily. The pizza was great and the newly-decorated super-clean cozy ambience is just right for small groups of CV’ers. Some customers walk from CV.

A Cheesy Puzzlement

Ever notice that in restaurants, the grated Parmesan cheese dispenser has mold inside the metal top? It is black in color and does not seem appetizing. I asked a couple of restaurant owners why don't they clean it and they replied they do clean it frequently, but they claim the metal top forms a rust that doesn't clean off after a short time. The restaurant owners seem to say it's not poisonous, it's just cheese being exposed to the air. I don't feel that this situation should be allowed to continue. That's my opinion; what's yours?
