SINCE BOTH BOB MARSHALL AND GEORGE LOWENSTEIN ARE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT OF UCO AND HAVE BEEN THE KEY PLAYERS IN THE CLUBHOUSE REBUILD, I PROPOSE THAT A DEBATE BE ARRANGED BETWEEN THE TWO CANDIDATES BEFORE THE ELECTION. I'M SURE WE CAN FIND SOME QUALIFIED PEOPLE TO MAKEUP QUESTIONS AND SERVE AS MODERATOR (RETIRED JUDGES, LAWYERS, NEWSPAPER REPORTERS) FOR THE DEBATE. I ENVISION QUESTIONS ON THE CLUBHOUSE REBUILD, ARBITRATION, LEVY(WPRF) ROLL IN REBUILD AND ISSUES THAT ARE FACING CV DOWN THE ROAD AND PRESENTLY. THE CANDIDATES CAN GIVE US THEIR PERSPECTIVE ON THOSE ISSUES AND WHAT THEY FEEL ARE THE SOLUTIONS GOING FORWARD. . IT CAN BE TAPED BY CHANNEL 63 AND A MAJORITY OF THE CV UNIT OWNERS WILL GET TO SEE BOTH CANDIDATES AND THEIR VISION FOR CV BEFORE THE ELECTION. MAYBE WE CAN PUT A BOX AT THE GUARD DESK IN THE CLUBHOUSE FOR PEOPLE TO PUT IN QUESTIONS THEY WOULD LIKE THE CANDIDATES TO ANSWER. BIG PICTURE QUESTIONS ONLY.

That is a stupendously great idea. Really meaningful use of Channel 63. Even a pair of presentations would be better than all this printing and posting on boards.
Of course only Prez GL is allowed to have ideas so he will probably squash it.

Once a cable system allows a legally qualified candidate to use its facilities, it must afford "equal opportunities" to all other candidates for that office to use its facilities. The cable system may not censor the content of the candidate's "equal opportunity" material in any way, and may not discriminate between candidates in practices, regulations, facilities or services rendered pursuant to the equal opportunities rules. Candidate appearances which are exempt from the "equal opportunities" rules include appearances on a bona fide newscast, bona fide news interview, bona fide news documentary, or on-the-spot coverage of a bona fide news event.
Wonderful suggestion Mike. Has this type of debate ever been done before in CV? Don't care when or where, just post date and time and for sure I will be there!
Andre says that while it is an attractive idea the reality is that CV residents are not politicians and while they want to serve the community they do not necessarily have all the attributes that politicians have. Furthermore, good talkers are not necessarily good administrators( ( Can they walk the talk ?) I believe more in candidates showing their credentials and more importantly their program. Having people destroying each other in a debate is not the best way to choose an Administrator in my opinion. I respect others opinion however but this is mine. Thanks Andre

Andre, what you say does make good sense. I hadn't thought of it that way. How the heck do we sort it all out, here in CV as well as nationally??? If we only knew...
I like to see a politician express himself , anything can be put on a paper, as we have seen already.The people running for president are politicians , make no mistake about that.

Why should it be hostile! Individual presentations of their vision for the village would be useful. If Marshall put his video on Lowenstine could do one or not as he pleased.
If it were hostile then that would be useful info about that candidate.
