Another Case for Detective Larry

Whence did 7 Benches + tra la come from, was it a Dover project or the Beauty Cmte? I had thought the Beauty Cmte was placing single benches evenly around the whole waterview village.
I propose the next blogger meeting be held here.

It is probably because board or committee members live there . lol

Al , Do you think such chicanery is afoot in CV? Mike

That pink building is hideous, such an eye sore . I wouldn't allow Monica to live there.

It was announced at one of the delegate meetings that the UCO beautification committee was going to enhance the area that is owned by UCO at the south end of Dover C. The area is outside of the wall owned by Dover.

UCO does not own much of the land that boarders water so there are few spots where benches can be put for public access.

I think it looks lovely. Very inviting. Any improvements in the village, no matter where, are good for all of us.

Hi All,

Yes, a beautiful and serene location, but beware of avian deposits and Alligators eating your lunch should you nap!!!

I think the benches look lovely and I would enjoy sitting on one for a while when walking around the permiter. My only question is: Who has assumed the responsibility for removing them when a storm is coming and is there an approved place to move them to?

I suggest that the money be put to better use such as painting the entrance gate wall on Haverhill immediately. The impression you get when coming into Century Village is that it is a Welfare Community or worse yet a Ghetto.

Mollie , You can be assured the crack team at UCO have made provisions for such happenings.

IN a bolg last month it was stated a contract was signed to take care of the problem at the Haverhill Gate.

Why do you use the word ghetto?

Yes there are probably people in Century Village on some kind of welfare and food stamps. What is your problem?

I really hope the Haverhill Gate painting contract was signed, as per some blogger who said UCO VP Sal B. told them so. We were to wait a month before sounding the alarm again--the month which ends the week of April 18th...

Yeah, I have it on my calendar for the 17th, I think UCO is going to make a liar of me, watch all 3 gates for cleaning activity.
Meanwhile I must say, Washington, Clinton, and Condie etc are cracking me up. Who knew they could be so witty.

Larry , What about the water front chunk at the SE end of Oxford. Why do you talk about what UCO owns, has UCO been buying land? Wouldn’t it all belong to WPRF or the associations?
Were the associations on the water corners asked if they would like a wonderful enhancement to their property paid for by the rest of CV via UCO? Maybe benches could have been planted all around.

Mollie - there are solid anchors on the benches, someone who shall be nameless failed to make a midnight requisition, if they had had a nut turner the story would have been different. I’m sure there is associated maintenance already in the UCO budget. Just like they had for floodlights and entrance maintenance.

When UCO got possession of the perimeter roads and bridges they got some land and all the swales. Some of this land is near Dover, some is near Somerset and a very small piece is near Chatham. The pump stations for the irrigation of the swales are located by Somerset and Chatham.

If a building wants to put up a bench on their property, which some have done, they can. However, it is for use of their residents only not the general public. To much legal hassel if someone falls.

I still say the benches are delightful. But with my luck, on that very day that I choose to have a snooze on one of them, I will be that very first person who will be on the receiving end of avian deposits, ant bites, bee stings and even perhaps even an alligator or two feeding on my big toes!

No snoozing as you may get arrested for loitering.

Anonymous said...

By snoozing you put yourself in danger of someone thinking that you have "passed away" and asking the people on the other benches to attend your "memorial service".

Dear Anon & Anon,
thanks for the chuckle. A wonderful way to end a Sunday evening.

Anyone caught sleeping on the new benches will be picked up by the security patrol, taken to UCO hdqt. and waterboarded. If ya gotta sleep stay home .

The benches are fine. Having them all in that one area looks ridiculous. Has anyone seen anybody actually sit in/on them yet? Wouldn't it make more sense to have them around the perimeter walk facing the walkway (not the street so as not to confuse them with the bus benches)? There are any number of places to have these benches so that they would be USED. We daily walkers would appreciate a sit once in awhile overlooking one of the canals. As it is now, they are purely decorative where they are. Looks like someone wants enough in their back yard to have some kind of party. The landscaping needs bushes or flowers & there certainly should not be more than 3 in that one area. If this is what the Beautification Committee does, they need a few people with some better ideas.
