Anonymous 7:23,
Dave andthe Cable Committee didn't get us into anything. The Delegate Assembly (Board of Directors of UCO)agreed to this cable contract which was negotiated by CSI, a company which the Delegates also voted on and approved to represent us in negotiations. It was the best bang for the buck!

Randall BUT WAS THEIR RECOMMENDATION!!!!

Thank you for sharing your disappointment with our product. Our goal is to produce high quality products that consistently delight our consumers and I’m sorry this wasn’t your experience. Please be assured I’m sharing your comments with the rest of our team.

ANONYMOUS...I hope you do share my comments with the rest of your team. If you are from COMCAST, past experience with you has left me with doubts. I hope you prove me wrong. After the way you handle things in the past I really wonder. I still think that ten years is a long long time to be saddled with a contract with a communications business with all the changes that come about so fast. . I will watching hoping Comcast does a better job than they did in the past. I have nothing but utmost respect with Dave Israel but I do question the length of time with this contract especially as to how Comcast treated us in the past. Well, like I said time will tell

Hi All,
A few words on the length of the contract.

First of all, all of the viable providers insisted a 10 year contract.

The principal risk is an unforeseeable Technology event. In other words, some major new technological advance that would antiquate the current Cable delivery model.

Our reasoning, was that Comcast, or any other provider, would be foolish not to simply deploy the new technology on their existing Digital network; with which the new technology would almost certainly be compatible.

The most likely candidate for a new paridigm would be IPTV, Internet Protocol TV.
In this model, TV signals are packetized and transmitted over a proprietary INTERNET network, like Email. This is the emerging model used by AT&T U-verse.

Unfortunately, AT&T is not ready to deploy here in CV and would not commit to a date of availability on our campus.

No contract can provide for all conceivabled scenarios, and every effort was expended to get the best available package for all Unit Owners.

We believe the vast majority of our unit owners will be pleased with the result.

Why did UCO steal 2.3 million from the unit owners ????

High A Nony Mouse
May 7, 2009 4:10:00 PM,

The money of which you speak will wipe out the Mortgage on the new UCO Office building, and reduce the monthly Cable bill for every Unit Owner by about $18.00 per month per unit for the first full year of the contract.

How exactly is that stealing anything from any Unit Owner?

Where is the UCO Conference Room? Is it in 2102? If so, it won't be able to hold a large number of people!

Hi Couch Potato
May 8, 2009 6:54:00 AM,

You have a point; it is a bit late to change it now, but if we are swamped, we will consider the Clubhouse in future.

I doubt there will be much interest in Comcast first explanation of the logistics of installing boxes.

Does Comcast know that their contract with UCO is not legal ???

Where were these anon-know-it-alls when Dave was asking for volunteers. Previously the cable committee worked thru 9 months, 15 meetings, checking refs, digging into draft docs, presentations, etc. from 6 companies. Extra people show up afterwards to tell us they could have done it quick, easy, and cheap!!

I was unable to attend the meeting yesterday. What was the outcome of the meeting?

The meeting was recorded and a detailed story will be in the next UCO Reporter, there were 5 comcast staff there and discussion was on how to install new boxes considering the various needs and plans. One sticky point was, if you sell your unit you have to return the box to Comcast WPB office, NG for our no car folks. etc. etc.
Plans are still in the making, no action required from the residents at this time.
