Just for my own clarification-at the delegate meeting today 5 June- was the gentleman's request for people to sign pledge cards supporting a political candidate who anticipates replacing Jeff koons on zoning -appropriate? how can he assure everyone if the candidate in question is voted in/she w/support no rezoning of the now golf course property? and as a new resident to CV- 6 mo- I am in the dark re the "you're a liar" "no, you're a liar" scream out at the end of the meeting between I think his name was Phil (golf course revolutionary) and the videographer after the woman in blue at a microphone yelled something about some meeting pertaining to the golf situation? I come from Illinois, land of convicted governors and rampant political corruption-so i guess my belief that one could accept a politician's promise -well, I don't. Thank you for any insight.

After they finish calling each other liars they usually ramp it up and call each other Nazis. Sometimes they mix it up and invoke Goebbels or Doctor Mengele. This happens when they get really mad. The first time that I heard this was at the Kent pool when I was ten years old- my grandfather told me to swim up close to the overhang and listen in to the meeting.
Unfortunately, Phil Shapkin and his friend George Lowenstein keep this name calling style going--giving Century Village its bad reputation.
To be fair, last year a former VP invoked Jesus when he described his trip to the Holy Land during a delegate meeting. The pendulum swings both ways I guess. I wish that one was still on Youtube. BTW, why aren't all the meetings on Youtube so that Snowbirds, who comprise the majority of residents, can see them?

Actually, it was on GOOGLE Video. Your BLOGMEISTER put it there.
Given the GOOGLE philosophy of "archiving the worlds knowledge" forever; I suspect it will be there for a long time.

As for putting the DA meetings on the INTERNET; as always, a Delegate may raise a motion from the floor. It will be discussed, it will be voted up or down, and if up, so it shall be written - so it shall be done!!

Hi Mag,
Yes, Phil Shapkin was requesting that we support and vote for Paulette Burdick For Board of County Commissioners, District 2, when Jeff Koons term expires.
How can anyone assure that a Politicians promises will be kept; you might as well go to the ocean shore and decree that the tide rolls back!

Dave, that would be great if we all could watch those meetings, and maybe the participants would tone down the invective and stick to business.
To be honest, my family has in past regarded the meeting shenanigans as a source of comedy, but now, with my parents moving slowly towards year round residency and me planning my sunny future at CV, chuckle time is over. So I guess I should talk to our delegate- I get the hint.
How do we allow anyone to take the floor to ask for a certain person's vote? This was a delegates meeting not a political rally.
Its so funny to see Howie the Clown and Circus Ringmaster George imortalized on Google video!
Does anyone with "All of their
senses" in tact,believe that any
governing body, anywhere in the
country, would turn down the opportunity to increase their revenues? I sincerely doubt it!
I believe everything Mr. Shapkin is doing is strictly on his own and with the ad-hoc committee, which has nothing to do with UCO.
If he wants our support he should THINK about opening some of his meetings to the PEOPLE for more ideas.......
