Here is the Delegate Assembly meeting for September. Principally for our Snowbirds, but of course open to all.

Just for my own clarification-at the delegate meeting today 5 June- was the gentleman's request for people to sign pledge cards supporting a political candidate who anticipates replacing Jeff koons on zoning -appropriate? how can he assure everyone if the candidate in question is voted in/she w/support no rezoning of the now golf course property? and as a new resident to CV- 6 mo- I am in the dark re the "you're a liar" "no, you're a liar" scream out at the end of the meeting between I think his name was Phil (golf course revolutionary) and the videographer after the woman in blue at a microphone yelled something about some meeting pertaining to the golf situation? I come from Illinois, land of convicted governors and rampant political corruption-so i guess my belief that one could accept a politician's promise -well, I don't. Thank you for any insight.

Delegates Meeting

I have just walked out of the delegates meeting after suffering through mulitple questions from the floor that are made without a microphone. It is unbelievable that in today's technical world we are incapable of providing microphones for any and all speakers. This meeting is being filmed for showing on Channel 63 with the intent that all residents would have the opportunity to know what is going on in the village. It must be just fascinating to watch a meeting with long dead spots where the concerns of the people are being asked. Many people have the same questions, it would be nice to hear the question asked and answered. This is a subtle slap to the sunshine laws, an open meeting where the people have no clue as to what is being said.

Notice of Special Meetings

It would seem that all of the efforts being made to inform the Delegates has fallen on deaf ears.

1, Channel 63 displays all UCO meetings from 55 minutes past EVERY hour until 2 & 1/2 minutes past the new hour. So, for Example – 9:55 until 10:03 ALL UCO MEETING appear three times every hour & every day. This eliminates the Soooo very long need to watch the entire presentation. This should allow everyone to remain informed. However:
2, UCO stated that both @ the current UCO office and @ the Clubhouse (near the party room) ARE Bulletin Boards they place all meeting notices on as well. And lastly, but alas not least:
3, There is on the desk of the Guard Station @ the clubhouse entrance, for all see, a clear list of ALL UCO meetings as well.

Finally, delegates must make certain their E – Mail address has been given to the UCO office. If they did not receive an E-Mail of this meeting - inform UCO so the process will improve, this part has only recently begun.

Shorter Delegate Meetings

There is no soliciting allowed in the village.
Why do we have those various commercial presentations at the beginning of the Delegate Meetings. Those commercial interests could put info in the UCO Reporter. I think Delegate meetings would be more popular if they were shorter. Delegates should not have to have bus anxiety and miss New Business. If you want to liven things up the chairman could tell a new joke at the beginning of each meeting.
I do not mean make fun of Leo, that was in very poor taste.

Having read both accounts of the above meeting, posted by George Lowenstein, and
Howie Silver, I wonder in fact, if I was at the very same meeting!
It seems to me that the 117 delegates, became unruly, due in fact, due to Mr. Silver's
"Stonewalling" and that Mr. Lowenstein, as President, made no effort to put the meeting
"back on track"......None of the assembled, ( delegates & non ) are Unfamiliar with thoese
that are or have served this community, and most likely like I, are appreciative of
ALL of their efforts, however, to re-introduce each individual, at that time was inappropriate.
Should the choice have been made to acknowledge their efforts, the Fall, would have been the
time. Furthermore, Mr. Silver's Travels, although lovely and surely appreciated by both
he and Mrs. Silver too, was NOT part of the Agenda...
.

CONDUCTED BY THE EXEC. BOARD OF UCO,
TO INFORM THE COMMUNITY, RECEIVE INPUT FROM THE COMMUNITY,
INVESTIGATE THE INPUT, RETURN WITH 'THE FINDINGS, FOR ACCEPTANCE
OR REJECTION......IN A NUTSHELL!
Had the original intent of "Open Meetings" been followed, none of what did take place
would have!

DELEGATE ASSEMBLY 6/6/08 MINUTES

The meeting was chaired by Vice President Sal Bummolo. Guests from the Sheriffs office included Lt. David Kronsberger, Major Rick Jenkins, Captain Chris Cailaway and Sheriff Ric Bradshaw. State Legislature Richard Machik from District 78 was also in attendance.

The summer quorum is 117 delegates; 158 were present.

Sheriff Bradshaw led the Pledge of Allegiance after which he gave a report about local gangs, homeland security and the County budget.

Dan Gladstone moved to accept the minutes; Ted Silverman seconded.

Treasurer Dorothy Tetro explained a change to the line item 5104 re canal and shore line maintenance, all of which will be in her UCO Reporter article.

Lt. Kronsberger gave the monthly crime report; 1 burglary and 2 thefts. He thanked Security and the COP for jobs well done.

2102 is taking shape and will, hopefully, have a grand opening in mid October.

A meeting will be held 9:30 am Thursday, June 19th, in the Clubhouse. Rod Tennyson will discuss new laws that will affect associations and owners.

On Friday, June 27th, 10am to noon, new Optical Scan Voting System machines will be brought to the Clubhouse Party Room. All are welcome.

Sal Bummolo as chair of the irrigation and co-chair of the infra structure committees explained what is happening at the Haverhill entrance. Three pumping stations are being refurbished and brought up-to-date with computerized systems taking several weeks to complete but at no cost to the Village. Sal also explained that the County is having a problem supplying water to the lakes. Once the rainy season starts,the situation will improve.

Vice President Phyllis Richland requested Ham radio operators to volunteer their services, which are needed in case of emergency situations. Door hangers are available at the UCO office for use before and during hurricanes. Florida Department of Health will train CERTS people to give oral antibiotics during hurricane emergencies. They will be authorized only in Century Village...POD... point of distribution.

President George Loewenstein met with local agencies, companies and stores who volunteered to lend a helping hand during hurricane emergencies.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Howie Silver reported that the 63 computer part crashed, but a new one will be installed shortly.

Claudette LaBonte, transportation chair, reported that over the summer bus runs would be re-investigated. A full report will be in the REPORTER. Anyone with a suggestion or a complaint must sign his name and phone number.

Dan Gladstone, insurance chair, reported that, when Mitigation Reports were given to the companies, many premiums were reduced.

Cable chair Larry Kall reported that some TV station numbers would be changed. A full list will be in the REPORTER.

UCO REPORTER chair Irv Lazar said the delivery service of the paper would be changed. It will be delivered to each Association as long as there is a mailbox or shelf available.

Jerry Karpf of the maintenance committee will take a vacation during July and August. But a meeting will be held on June 10th, 10am, Room C.

Security chair Al McLaughlin reported 14,600 guests entered CV in May. The annual pass issuance started June 2d. Maps will be given out at the gates to any visitors requiring them. Dogs are not allowed to be walked on any property other than on the grounds of the association permitting their occupancy.

Ted Silverman is arranging for an October 24th celebration for 12 residents who are 100 years old. Call him at 686 3834 with any Villager who reached that age.

OLD BUSINESS

Roberta Fromkin was nominated and approved as chair of the nominating committee and to the Executive Board.

Sometime in August there will be a meeting of local and county candidates.

GOOD AND WELFARE

Phyllis Richland explained the difference between Deerfield Beach and Century Village regarding why we did not receive grants for lifts.
