With all the abuse "heaped" on the creator of this incredible form of Expression..
I think it's about time, to reconsider "Anonymous" postings....Regretably, there is
no way to distinguish, vile individuals, whose only purpose is to BASH ANOTHER, from
those who fear retaliation, due to their disclosures.
The purpose of this form was to Educate, in the broadest sense of the word, in a
civilized manner..several past postings have indicated otherwise..Any opinions on
the subject?

I have never advocated an Anon nom de plume. I voted against it when it was up for a vote and I would vote against it if it comes up again. Speak out and say what you want( if it is not slamming someone)but I personally want to know the person I am conversing with.
The last time we were asked, I favored keeping the Anonymouses, because some of their contributions were good or humorous in a nice way. But I would agree now, drop them—there is way too much abuse, particularly of you, Dave. You may be willing to put up with it; WE DON'T LIKE IT HAPPENING TO YOU. So I vote to put a stop the Anonymouses. They've had a free forum and been feeding off their own vileness. Let them take their invective elsewhere; or better, drop it altogether and find life is the better for it.
Whatever a person's point of view may be, if they sign "Anonymous," in my mind they have lost credibility and integrity. Their statement becomes meaningless and should be disregarded.
This sounds like the old CV website, where if they did not like what you said you were forbidden to post anything.
The last I heard we have freedom of speech.
There is always two sides to a story. You can't please everyone all the time. People see things differently and if they offer different views they are looked down on.
We are not yes men and sometimes we don't have to agree with something that we don't believe in.
I voted against Anonymous before but I have changed my mind about it . If Dave can put up with the the few bad Anonymi,let them stay . If not , have a vote and majority rules. Mike

Where will whistle blowers and Light of truth go if blog is restricted. 'Eliminate' a pilot program is not needed there is Q&A that you already pay for.
Although many times they attack Dave and the good he and others try to do at CV, I hope we retain anons as very INfrequently, sometimes, once in a while, some useful information comes from anons.
I think if you have something to say don't be afraid to use your name. Stand behind your opinion. What retaliation? What can onyone do to you? Who are these people afraid of? Aside from some of them being nasty to begin with they have persecution complexes as well and some of them are quite illiterate an it is difficult to make out what they are ranting about.
How soon you forget the avalanche of lies and malicious rumors directed at Marshall, Black, Dowling, Israel, Richland, by the unethical crazed malevolent supporters of George, Howie, CaroleS. The warped values of some people in the village are just sick.

We already have the names-only version of the blog, it is the UCO Reporter. Someone please tell Fromkin about the Blog so she can get her questions answered ( see Letter to the Editor, how can she see the CV Website and miss the blog!!).
A good name is a cherished virtue. Don't be afraid to stand behind that good name. Don't cower and be frightended into anonymity. When you hide your name, you've weakened your precious right to freedom of speech, and to hold a differing opinion. As FDR said, "The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself." Everyone has a right to voice their opinion. I would not want to ban anonymous blogs. I just feel sorry that they cannot stand under their good name. Therefore, while their opinion is still heard, it loses crdibility with me.

at the last count I have known 5 Sy's. None of them in C.V.
So - You want to criticise people who do not remain in C.V. full time. They are afraid (remember, our current president was voted in on a strength of a baseball bats !) of punctured tires, broken windows, etc. They like being anonymous - hey You, Sy, no last name, are anonymous to us. So - stuff it.
