BRIDGE TO THE CLOUDS

COULD YOU DRIVE ACROSS THIS BRIDGE?
The Millau viaduct is part of the new E11 expressway connecting Paris and Barcelona and features the highest bridge piers ever constructed. The tallest is 240 meters (787 feet) high and the overall height will be an impressive 336 meters (1102 feet), making this the highest bridge in the world.

Thanks to Mike for the pictures.

Click on the photo for a full size stupendous view. If there are only two columns with cables on one photo, why are there so many more on the above the clouds photo. It is in use in the clear photo. Probably a permit problem.

Hi Nitpicker,

My selection of the available images may leave something to be desired.

This bit of Infrastructure is truly massive; so what we have here is a new wrinkle on the "Three blind men and the Elephant"
story.

In other words; it depends on where you look at the project; so to see the whole thing in segments see the following URL;

Ditto on the URL, going to shake up those old Roman viaduct builders.

The wide-shot is the bridge during construction with the temporary red columns. Those columns where later removed when the cable installation was completed.
