LURKERS

Hi Dave , How many non participating LURKERS are monitoring the Blog ? I really don't think its worth continuing the Blog since so few CVers care about free speech. I have never lived anywhere that people cared nothing about their community or world affairs before. It's as if people move to CV and they are brain dead. The Blog is a marvelous place to express oneself and learn from others but I think this experiment in open dialog has failed . I, for one, will always be grateful to you for giving the Village freedom of speech. The BRAIN DEAD LURKERS deserve whatever they get . Just one mans opinion, Mike

Hi Mike,
Here is a brief extract from GOOGLE Site Stats:

808 people visited this site

10,778

808 Absolute Unique Visitors

27,288 Pageviews

2.53 Average Pageviews

00:05:04 Time on Site

48.02% Bounce Rate

7.48% New Visits

What this says, is that the BLOG has had 808 unique visitors since inception, they have visited the BLOG 10,778 times and they have viewed 27,288 pages.

Actual active participation by way of New Posts and Comments is obviously well under 12; so I would agree with you that participation is pitiful.

Your suggestion of deleting the BLOG is under active consideration. I am beginning to believe that folks are more interested in "Tile People", "Plumbers" and of course "High school Reunions"

Dave

Perhaps you might want to consider the problem may be with the subjects that were presented here by the people that put subjects here that were of little interest to those looking here.

I THINK YOU MISS THE POINT,THE BLOG IS FOR ALL TO SAY WHATEVER THEY WANT AND TO BRING UP WHATEVER ISSUES CONCERN THEM. UNLIKE YOUR FASCIST CV SITE, THE BLOG WAS AN ATTEMPT AT DEMOCRACY, SOMETHING YOU DO NOT CONCERN YOURSELF WITH. MIKE

Dave,
I suggest that you speak with Ken Davis about what went on with the ORIGINAL UCO Q & A site. That site also had a limited number of people who visited the site and a limited number of people who used it a lot.

Perhaps the basic problem is the lack of computers in the village as compared to other places.

We also have a lot of elderly residents that keeping up with their various ailments and staying alive is of major importance. For some people just getting up in the morning, get on the bus to go to buy food for the day is a major task.

As you found out a lot of residents do not care about what goes on here politically as long as they can live their lives in peace. As you know only about 277 delegates bothered to vote in the UCO election.

Hi Larry,

Good points all.

Ken is Co-Admin. on this BLOG, he and Betty are having some medical issues at this time, but in due course we will chew this all over.

Thanks,

Dave

I go to the pool at the main clubhouse , there are many people who I would consider to have a computer. They are not old and feeble. How do we reach these people and how do we convince them to join and post? Any suggestions?

We could always do a little advertising. We could consider running a small ad in the Advocate. It may be too late in the season for that now, but I think many of us regulars would be willing to donate a small amount to help spread the word. Something to think about for next season.
For all of our snowbirds, it is such a marvelous way to keep up with what's going on here in Florida while they are away. I know that many of these people will keep up with the on-line UCO, but this can be an additonal way for them to stay connected.
I love ElaineB's suggestion about caring around papers with the web address on them, ready to hand out to anyone that might be interested. I have been doing the same thing every opportunity I can.

As far as having problems posting, Dave's email address is on the left side of the blog. Anyone having a problem could email Dave and I know he would be more than happy to help walk you through it.
