Hi Ken,

Not really much to say, a good exchange of opinions and a solid vote of 202 to accept the proposed agreement.

I, for one, am glad it is over. An after action report may be in the future

It was spooky to hear Weiss and Lowenstein and Black and Marshall all in agreement, at least for this one vote. A number of people said see where fighting got you - good lesson.

AS Dave pointed out there was much discussion but in the end the vote was for accepting the settlement. I believe the count was 202 in favor , 18 apposed and 17 abstentions.

The vote was conducted by a roll call of the delegates attending.

Thanks Dave, for the blog. And thanks Ed, Ken and Bob Marshall.
Much valuable information has gone into the ether. Will it ever be utilized, only time will tell.

I was pleased with the effort of Elaine speaking about the President and Attorney expounding on the
Strengths of our case! She clearly stated, if it were all that strong, why in the same breath offer a settlement?

Good job Elaine!

We all sat in amazement when we heard they ran out of voting certs’.

If it weren’t for Ed Black requesting that the Administration do a voice roll call vote, just where would we be?

Can’t anyone in this Administration thinks on their feet?

Anonymous said...

Perhaps you missed it, but the treasurer forgot to include the legal expenses on the treasurer’s report.

They ran out of the voting sheets, as well. What can they forget or run out of next?

LARRY KALL said...

If the settlement offer had been defeated today there would have been an IMMEDIATE motion to approve borrowing another $250,000 from the road fund to continue the case. Does anybody think that motion would have been approved?

Correction,due to the swarms of
delegates, w/out voting tabs, that
were asked to assemble in front of
the stage, to verify their status,
I, approached, our new VP,Frank
Cornish, to request a Roll Call
Vote, which he promptly did.
Thank you....

Now that George L. doesn't have to defend himself anymore , maybe he can look into getting revenue for UCO by charging the MEDICAL BLDG. and it's TENANTS a fee for doing Business in CV.

thx anon I thought I was blind not finding legal expenses! 'the treasurer FORGOT to include the legal expenses on the treasurer’s report.'
The treasurer also said the next request for legal expenses, if agreement didn't pass would be more like $1M. Now brace yourselves for the new UCO building

It's the peter principle. In this case, we are commemorating George's incompetence with a new UCO building, paid for by stupid old people.

I am in away happy this got resolved. I didn't get the previous
meeting paper work or the pink
vote slip upon my arrival?
no excuse should have been given!
Yes ,I abstained because these
procedures are not to my judgement
acceptable because every unit owner
should have a vote when comes to
these matters???? we talk about
dollars and cents (sence)????
Unless the Delegates know all the
facts they should also abstain,
instead given the first approval
last year after hearing about
this dilemma! Solmon states

smiles why not she is the Winner
if your keeping score? the losers
those who used their athority to
mislead including the Delegates!
We were told Mr. Levy was a crook
and Liar, I believe he is an astute business man who will take
what he can whitin the law we may
not like it but it is what it is!
the past UCO Officers including George they say were bad, I believe they did the best they knew how to after which nature
dealth us! AN apology to each and
all should be exchange! Yes we all want to move forward, and with added improved ways of conducting
business for the common good!
The only true testament of a good
Administration is that not how
many plus and minus you have accomplish it is the next elected

PREDICTION

1.The President of UCO WILL NOT RESIGN.

2. None of the present officers of UCO will resign.

3. The UCO building will be built and occupied by UCO.

4.When the Medical is completed a satisfactory arrangement will be worked out ACCORDING to whatever easements of record for the building and land that are in place.

5.For the next 5 years some people will still be complaining about the settlement.

6. For the next 20 years there will be people complaining about UCO, WPRF, their Condo Board and about everything else in the Village but will not volunteer to "get involved" to make things better.

7.A small group of dedicated volunteers will continue doing their best for the village although they will be maligned for their efforts.

Mike said...

There are no easements or right of ways on record for the MEDICAL BUILDING. Look it up If You find any please PUBLISH on the blog.

You are right; there is no cure for stupidity.

Giacomo, great comments! I agree with much of what you said.
Mike, you keep mentioning about the Medical building, I don't know if this pertains or not, but a lady I know that does not live in CV told me that she saw an advertisement in her Palm Beach Post for the little store that we have. She said it was advertising batteries, etc. I told her she must be mistake because the little store is only for CV residence and she would not be allowed in the gate. Am I wrong about that?

I do hope someone passed a towel to our esteemed U.C.O President George Lowenstein yesterday so he could wipe the copious amounts of egg from his face.
As we residents digest the whole sticky mess, surely one thing is certain - we will never know if this George chopped down any cherry trees in his youth!
By the way, where was Megalomaniac Myron with his cries of “show us the money” yesterday?
Left licking his wounds I guess like the rest of us who have been forced, to settle for a pittance payable in installments because, like The Colonel in Chief, he began to believe his own hype of what could possibly be achieved by ill-considered actions in the collection of the elusive millions.
Now was it ten, eleven or twelve? Does anyone actually remember?
There was however a positive side to Solomon’s absence yesterday - apart from the obvious one that delegates have finally acknowledged that UCO Vice President’s should at least possess an IQ larger than their collar size. He wasn’t there, or if he was he was unfamiliarly silent, and unavailable or unwilling to lead the boo and hissing against the much maligned Jean Dowling.
At last we were finally allowed to hear what she had to say instead of the hearing her character assassinated or the ill-founded accusations of telling a pack of lies.
Seems obvious that the only lies in the pack came from the couple of jokers! and the Ace, the now wealthier Ms. Bleu.
We may of course never know what transpired at the mediation meeting but it seems hardly likely that Judge Major would have tolerated such a paltry settlement without a modicum of knowledge of the facts on both sides of the case and actual figures of money involved.
The financial cost of this fruitless exercise has been high and will be met by money used by UCO that should have been returned to it’s rightful owners - the residents. Alas we duped mortals will now wait till next January before receiving our monthly stipend.
The cost to our credibility caused by this undignified behavior will merely enhance our already tarnished reputation in the media and outside the confines of our perimeters.
Course those eggy faces on the podium yesterday could be due to the sandwiches served at the mediation meeting - which was so thoughtfully shared (not the sandwiches the details of - they has tuna too!) by Phyllis Richland - pass that towel round when you are finished with it Mr. President!

Ed Black said...

Sue you are an articulate writer and your views are quite compelling.

I would like to add my “2 cents”, if you please.

I was privileged to work with Jean Dowling during the storm recovery and Clubhouse renovations. I found Jean working harder, for the good of this Village, than a great many of my working associates during my working life. She would arrive before the Contractor and leave well after he and his crew had gone home. No job or detail was too small for this extraordinary Vice President of UCO. She would call the jobbers to remind them they were due EARLY next morning. Nothing got away from her.

I was and remain saddened by the scurrilous articles accusing, without any foundation whatsoever, that we stole poker tables from the clubhouse. Unfortunately it became obvious that accusations aimed at those, whose articles were restricted from the UCO Reporter, would have no forum to place their response to these libelous statements before the public and would DISTRACT from the mistakes, omissions and other items that would be “overlooked” by such tactics.

Many of the former Administration tried to persuade the group following one encouraging a “rent strike” that there would be no justification for such actions. Absent during the entire period this group met were both VP Richland, and Treasurer Loewenstein. Reason: so they could take credit for supporting this “Strike” and use the angst to campaign for election. Well it worked and it even provided for the reelection of Mr. President, even though just about one month ago, campaigning at the Kent Pool, the 11 Million was cut to only 6 million. It is even more interesting that now, barely 4 weeks after the election, WE sought mediation! Surely the Administration KNEW the fund for this legal fiasco was nearly at it’s limit requiring a motion to commit more fund to this.

It is hardly a new political approach to accuse others to divert attrention to you own limitations.

It is hardly a new political approach to accuse others to divert attention from you own limitations. It is that some are exceptional at doing just that. Now the truth has been told. Thank heavens most of the Residents didn’t believe all the comments maligning Jean Dowling, but after what we’ve been through, how may we believe anything said henceforth?

According to the lady that runs the Fascist CV Q&A site , the unit owners will reeive abour a $12 a month reduction in dues starting 1/09 for 24 months

Mike said...

What will probably happen is, they will raise the dues and then say they are reducing them . Mike
