Veterans on Military Trail

I was riding along Military and Okeechobee and saw some people dressed as soldiers with "Veterans Support" written on the back of their shirt while they were soliciting the cars stopped at the red light to donate money to this cause. I feel that these young fellows went overseas and fought and while they are home, instead of getting a rest, the army's got them out soliciting for "veterans support." The United States has got themselves in a real quarry when they have to get the veterans go out and beg for money to help the position that the veterans are in. Of the three people vying to become our next president, Hillary is the only one that keeps saying "bring our boys home." Barack and John each have a poor agenda towards getting our boys home. Many of the people in the military have been home and rotated back more than three times. These people are stressed out and what does this veterans group do but get them to get dressed in army fatigues and go out "begging." This is a sorry scene that our country is not doing more for our veterans. I personally don't care where or how our government raises the funds to help our veterans get over the stress they have been under in Iraq, just so long as they get these boys all the help they need to regain their self-esteem and rid themselves of the terrible sight of warfare. That's how I feel. What's your opinion?

HITLERY ROTTEN KLINTON DETESTS THE MILITARY - ALL OF IT !!!

She will SAY/DO, ANYTHING to be elected, which "they" believe is a birth right! - She would not only be incapable of bring the troops home - she would NEVER do it !!!

Capt, I agree with you about Hillary. I think she will say/do anything. We may be the only 2 people in all of CV who feel that way. Funny, I am part of the particular age, white female, that they are predicting she is getting most of her votes from. But she won't get one from me.

Sen..Jim Webb (Va)and others are sponsoring a new GI Bill to take care of all the vets . Contact Sen Nelson & Martinez and get them behind this legislation. Mike

The Vets are being short shifted because the majority of politicians and their staffs never spent a day in military service, they could care less about the military. Can you imagine private citizens have to build Vet hospitals to take care of the severely wounded service people. Walter Reed Hospital is a disgrace and most of the other VA hospitals are understaffed and underfunded. Give Me a brake , Bush- Chaney , Hill, Pelosi reed , McC are all nothing but a bunch of do nothing pandering scumbags. Mike

I hear what you say. At least my neighbors are pleased with the care and equipment they get from our local Veterans Hospital.

I wholeheartly agree with
both of you. If Hillary
loses Indiana and North
Carolina we are going to
see the other Hillary who
is very revengeful and can
not take a loss. Why do you think she stuck by
roaming Bill (Monica).
The reason is that is does
not want to lose the clout
that comes with the name
Clinton.

In my blog entry, I meant to comment only on the government having veterans who have served in a war to come home and beg for money on the streets. The mention of Hillary was not a bid for you to vote for her. I haven't heard any of the candidates or my neighbors claim that the veterans deserve everything they ask for without having to beg for it. Our next president, whoever it be, should have this situation resolved. That's my opinion; what's yours?

Let us take a visual view at all
the disrespect that is given to
our Military Personel, in this
America I know it could be we would
not have to even have to ask about
the wrongs their shouldn't be any.
But reality of who we really are
sets in ,since we are not in this
together a voleteer service, the only ones effective are the ones who are in and their families, the
rest say we care? many more don't
than do that it what it is!
Yes we and those great congress people blame point problems with
their talks to everyone but themselves, and those young men and women each and everyday die and suffer. The Pentagon gets Billions
and squander Millions the armor is
not provided ,WHY because we are who we are we say and at times don't do? Those we gave our vote to
take this country and do what is
proper and just will not do it why?
I'm sorry i feel this way but it is
what it is, we can't, and they won't! We hear the last several
years their coming over the border, to kill us , yes maybe but
if we the people really were concern that wall would be secured
and manned wouldn't it? The bridges
roads are a mess (2) months ago a
senator put in a ammendment that
all the pork barrel money be held
and go to infracture the vote i don'thave the exact # 84 to 13 to
keep it pork why? WE borrow from
china, japan, GB, Taiwan, we owe
we owe, but we claim to state to be
the richest country, etc. but we have
no money for health, social security why/ yes we have problems
80% we as a people make and 20%
is given to us by other factors
From the begining Osama Bin Laden
stated he was going to bankrupt ?this Country, now the question is
can this be done even without the fraud, lies we bring to the table
and we hear day in day out? my last word is WHY? is this being condone by the People of the USA!
I have to put anonymous because
i am ashamed to have to write this
and be judgemental!and ashammed!!

Thank you, Anonymous (007), for your blog regarding veterans, and Mike, for your encouraging comments. There is no question you both recognize the importance of what the war veterans have done for our nation. We cannot thank them too much, but we sure can give them a helping hand when they return without them having to beg for it.

I think the way that these young veterans are being treated is disgusting. Every single one of them is a hero in my eyes. My heart breaks for them and for their families. And to have them sent back over there, 2 or 3 times is just criminal! What is the answer, I sure don't know. But I believe we need to bring our boys and girls home.

You guys even have me handing dollars out now left and right. Just this morning, I opened the passenger side window when leaving the parking lot at Publix (Okee & Jog) to give what looked like an old vet some money.
You know what, I gave him the money and asked him if he was a vet (he looked like a Nam vet to me, older, thin, worn, with a cain).
HE WAS HONEST ENOUOGH TO SAY "NO" TO ME. That impressed me so much that he told the truth, I thanked him anyway. So much for the little VA Hospital speech I was about to give hime (borrowed from Capt John).
You are all very influencing forces!!! I'm just not sure which direction...

Boy Chris are you right about being sent overseas to a war zone as being criminal. At least during Vietnam it was 12 month tours. Short timers were anyone who could not be sent over because of the time left on their commitment.

Bring back the draft! Every one's child should do some service for our country even if its cleaning the streets. No excuses! No discrimination - rich or poor, and all races sll religions. You name it!.

Topper said...

Hi Anon,
I have had the same thoughts as you about the draft. Though, it's easy for me to think, not having any children to be worried sick about.

War sure does leave it scars though. Even if these kids make it back alive, with all their limbs, I worry about their mental state.
I still think of many of the boys I went to school with that came back from Vietnam. Many showed no injuries on the surface, but somehow, their minds were never the same. They were babies of 18 and 19 when they went. So when I see these broken down older looking vets on the side of the road, with their signs and canes, it brings it all back.
I know it was the same if not much worse for World War I, II and Korea.
WAR IS HELL, HELL IS WAR.

Mike, Flynn, thank you for your
support on my comment I made on
april25,2008 2:58 pm. I am ashammed of what they do to our
military and still continue to do.
They say in this election the
economy is on top no surprise
we are all effected by it but those
in harmsway themselfs and family
feel the pain of separation, fear of
the unknowned? but what keeps them
going is that each one has to watch the others back 24/7.......
