if all the folks that post annonymous would tell us who you are we could really get something going to bring attention to our CHANGE IS IN THE AIR campaign. we are planning meetings at various places and times to try to make our village into the place we all want to be please don't be shy. regardless of who you are, we need your voice, but we would like to put a face or a name to that voice. we need you. your posts are good and reflect what we need to do.

Unfortunately for someone that championed the present administration and did not think much of the last administration which you were part of, it is somewhat strange that you are now aligned with these same people. It makes you somewhat suspect. However it is your right to do what you think is necessary.
There are others that feel that there is nothing wrong with the present administration. buses are running, the pools are open and there are functions at the clubhouse. Maybe not is not all bad.
Hi Phyllis. You may not be aware but there was a poll taken some time back to address this very situation.
The question was something to the effect " do you want folks to be able to post as anonymous?" The vote was to continue to allow such postings.
However, I tend to agree that some of the time I might be more likely to comment or reply if I knew the source of the information.
Thanks for sharing your ideas with us, I suspect you have information that would make some of those who think all is OK change their minds in a great big hurry.

As one who admires and respects all that you have done, I believe you owe us a clear explanation of this sudden change on your part as you gave this administration you unqualified support. Perhaps if we understood why things are different now we would then step forward.

What saved this blog from going belly up was anonymous and fake names being able to post. As one anonymous poster perhaps it IS time to again ban both type posters and see if this blog will survive.
I think a lot of people are not computer savvy have a hard time creating a google account . To us it's simple but to others it's intimidating. Other anonymous poster are the UCO boosters who have no guts and still others who are afraid to express an opinion because of UCO. As most know, I am against anonymous posters but a vote was taken and majority rules . Mike

Do we have to congratulate the present administration for not deatroying them. When you look at actual actions of the present administration do you notice the large hole in your wallet and divisiveness in the village
I think that those of us who use "anonymous" feel we would like our opinion noted but we don't want to get into a name-calling situation, such as whether or not we have guts or any other utterance that seems to arise from the gutter. Dave, in the beginning, advised us to be civil in the use of our language. I and all the other anonymouses are completely in agreement with that rule. It also was voted on that anyone who preferred a non-de-plume would be welcomed on this blog. Some people thrive on having arguments. I am not one of those people, and the rest of the anonymouses seem to be the same type. This blog asks for our opinion. It does not now, or ever, ask for our given name, so that some other bloggers can go around using one of us as an example. Every one who knows me knows what I think and who I prefer; I do not need to put that here for someone with guts to pick apart. Thank you for this space.
If you still think that Century Village West Palm is the place to live cheaply guess again. There is no doubt that it will cost more to live here as the places ages and repairs and updates are necessary. The shorelines are but one example of this problem. More than three story buildings may need an engineers report of the stability. All buildings electrical and plumbing systems will soon need updating. Elevators will have to be upgraded and have emergency generators in place when there is no power. Homeowners insurance will be mandated and probably somewhat expensive. Fuel cost will raise the cost of operating the buses and increased electrical cost for heating the pools will be passed on to the residents. Get ready to pay a lot more for everything.

Yes, expenses will be rising in Century Village as they will be rising everywhere else. The only ones, from my point of view, that will really be hurt are the snowbirds "on the margin". More year round residents with all it's implications could be a great asset to this village.

There seem to be more and more reasons not to get lifts and encourage personal responsibility.
Anonymous, I agree that some of the "seasonal residents" will be hurt by rising prices but there is another group that may be even more seriously impacted.
Many older widows reside here and are already in financial trouble. They are impacted because of being widowed and losing what pension their husband may have gotten and many are now existing on SS only. They have done no wrong, they have just outlived their resources.
A few years ago a fund was established and handled through the JCC. As I recall this was funded by the Levy's at $60,000.
The funds ran out in about six months.
Please keep these women in mind because they are already in trouble and YES any increase will impact them before most of the rest of us.
To Elaineb- There is NO requirement for 2 story lifts to have generators.The regulations for generators for elevators for existing and new construction was issued by the Florida Bureau of Elevator Safety which licenses all elevators and lifts in Florida. The requirements may be a little hard to understand as they refer to feet of travel in some cases rather than stories.
It appears that many owners were stuck in the units when there was no power available thus the generator requirements.

My statement was in response to Century Village is no longer the place to live cheaply. I am aware that there are full time people living in this village that are struggling to survive. I agree with you that we should not forget them. Their struggle is a social issue in the country of plenty. The responsibilty of providing a safety net for those in that position lies with each individual and our illustrious national government.
Hi, I feel Century Village is a wonderful place but all is getting out of hand. We have 309 associations, with 309 different sets of officers, bylaws, along with UCO and w.p.r.f. in the mix. Alot of the associations officers are bickering about all sorts of rules, bylaws and anything else they can find to bicker about. Cost of living in the Village is getting out of hand, is anything being done to keep costs done? We have a committee for just about everthing, do we have a committee for keeping costs down? I attend as many delegates meetings as possible, I am on our board and by June 11, I was real glad to getout of bylaw, laws, and bickering h---!!! And for those that might say MOVE, I have thought about it. But I think it is a shame to feel one has to leave because of all the laws, what-ifs, (now Mr. Gladstone has us comcerned if someone walks on our property, Mr Shaptin speaks of misinformed unit onwers with dogs trespasings, oh, come on get a life!!!!) I think we should listen to Bob Marshall and get a professional Management company. Three months in the summer I live in a condo up North and we have a professional company and we don't have all this nonsence. Physliss, I am sorry you are out of UCO, we needed you there but keep up the good work on the outside, You, Ed and Bob are trying but this is a loosing battle !!! I am with Norma.Its about time something is done here in CV. Maybe its your time Phyllis along with Bob Marshall Ed Black and anyone else that agrees that this Adm. is getting out of hand. I love CV, and I have no intention of moving just trying with the help of others to straighten out this mess that has been created by this administration. Its too bad this is the middle of summer and all snowbirds like myself are up north and cannot do too much except to let you know when I get back I will get in touch with BM, EB or PR and give you my help know matter what it is. Also I got in touch with Norma and told her to use my name and password until she gets back and get her mess fixed so that she will be able to post. This is the first tiime I feel that some steps are being taken. For starters 309 associations should be under one umbrella a pres. Sec. Treas. for each assoc. never mind 309 pres. 309 sec 309 treas. This system is not working we have to get our heads together and come up with a solution that is beneficial to all not just a few. I have vented and now I feel better. Getting all 309 associations under one set of officers will not happen.
Getting 309 association to 29 associations will not happen.
Getting former officers voted out of office to get back in office will not happen.
Our residents will never pay the costs of "professional" management.
As long as seasonal residents walk away in the summer to let someone else keep the place going nothing will happen.
As long as people keep looking for the some magic to come along and straighten things out nothing will happen.
As long as people keep bashing each other nothing will happen.
As long as people who live here keep deciding which rules and regulations they will live by, nothing will happen.
As long as people trespass on other peoples property to walk their dogs that are both not wanted or approved, nothing will happen.
This village contrary to what some may think or say is not in any stage of crisis.
If you review the past history of the village there were LOTS of times when there were problems to overcome and they were by whatever administration was in office at the time.
The present administration will solve their present problems and the next administration will solve what ever problem they run into.
ME THINKS THAT ALL THIS NONSENSE ABOUT THE PRESENT ADMINISTRATION BEING FAULTED FOR EVERYTHING IS A LOT OF HOGWASH. IT IS JUST AN ATTEMPT BY FORMER OFFICERS TRYING TO GET BACK IN POWER.MY CRYSTAL BALL SAYS IT WILL NOT COME TO PASS AS OUR RESIDENTS ARE NOT THAT DUMB TO LET IT OCCUR.
