Hi Mike,
Here is a list of Committies and Chairs.
I will leave it to you to dig out the Telephone numbers.
One item in doubt is the status of Howie Silver.

Thanks Dave , Does UCO have the committee members who work with the Chairs or are these one person committees. I'm just trying to figure out how things work.
Thanks, Mike
Hi Mike,
Yes, UCO has all that information.
BUT will they give it to you???
Dave
A few committees are singular but most committees are multiple. The person that normally would have the up to date information would be the chairperson. Is there a magic number that is best for the size of committees? Some people may feel that a small committee functions best. Some people feel that a large committee is best as you get more input. Sometime large committees get bogged down with personalities and spend hours getting nowhere.
Some feel that small committees get to the crux of a problem faster. I guess it all depends on your point of view.
Which brings up a question. What are your thoughts on committee sizes?
The speedy bloggers are way ahead of me >>
There are no phone numbers but Dave is presumably using the starter list on CV Website Home > Officers >scroll down Committee Chairs.
Interesting! the Website is not a UCO Cmte, their staff is nicely listed separately under Site Staff, and they are doing a terrific job, improvements every week.
UCO has A Computer Cmte chaired by Howie Silver (as is Channel 63 Cmte). What is Computer Cmte?
Q&A does not have a UCO cmte. Is it part of anything?
Larry I think it is more important for cmtes to have co-chairs and backup people in case one disappears (e.g. where is Howie, hope he is ok). Also that the members of the cmte be proactive and motivated, as opposed to only interested in socializing, remembering the good old days, and Volunteer lunches. A couple of computer people to do research/cmte would be good too.
Do cmte chairs all give annual reports of their accomplishments??
Thanks Dave,
I'll wait till after tomorrow to look to UCO for the information.
Larry,
I don't have a size preference, it would depend on the size and complexity of the committee mission . In a place like CV where volunteers are relied on , a couple extra members can't be a bad thing.
Mike
Hi Elaine,

I was chair of the Computer Committee in the Marshall Administration.
We met and developed Operational strategy and equipment lists to be purchased for the UCO Computer Network. Ed Black was closely involved with this effort.
It was a very knowledgable team; Sadie lovenger, Ken Davis, Fernando Rubio, Ed Black, Pat Blunck and one other whose name escapes me.
As for as I know, I am still on the Computer Committee; however there has not been a single meeting since Loewenstein took Office.
I assume this is because the chair, Howie Silver knows everything there is to know about Computers and requires no assistance.

Hi Dave , am I blocked from sending you mail?
Nevermind Dave , I had the wrong address. Mike
Lalrlrly - Does size matter HAHAHA!
Over the years different UCO presidents have had varied ideas about committee make up. Some felt that it was necessary to have as many people as possible on committees in order to have more input from the community. Other presidents felt that there should be a size limitation to committees perhaps along the line that fewer but better was best. Some committees over the years have had co chairs and the committee functioned well others maybe not so well. Some people became committee chairs because no one else wanted the job. Some people became committee chairs because they believed in the mission of the committee. Some people joined committees just to say they were on a committee and to come to the yearly volunteer luncheon. But no matter what I have never heard of a committee that went out of business because a chair left or died. There was always someone else to step in or be asked to step in. The same will happen now.
Larry, I do not think a one-person cmte with no meetings, counts as still in existence.
Sounds as if Computer Cmte. has been comatose for 3 years! see posts above.
Nominating Cmte. on life support, provided only one candidate for last election.
One Vote Per Unit Cmte., what progress has been made??
MIA Workshop Cmte. I liked the workshops in Weiss time.
Channel 63 - inadequately staffed, if in fact it is our chief method of communication.
Q&A has been killing itself.
Like Mike I am just trying to figure things out and have a hard time getting sensible answers.
IAW Larry - "Some people joined committees just to say they were on a committee and to come to the yearly volunteer luncheon". That is not a committee that is a CLUB. Obviously the choice of chair persons to avoid this kind of abuse is important.
Not every chair person gets to pick their own members. Not every person on a committee is effective. Not everybody WANTS to be a committee chair or member. Would be nice if everything was perfect in this world.
When you are elected to the Executive Board, you are to serve on 2 committees. I was put on the Transportation and safety committees by George
Hi Ken , I guess Geoge didn't want anyone but Howie S on computers. Amazing
Thanks Ken, that has logic and a plan. Gives some reassurance when it was getting swampy.
IAW Larry - "Some people joined committees just to say they were on a committee and to come to the yearly volunteer luncheon". What was the price of that, vote for George, loyalty, no matter what he was doing. Now the overall plan becomes clear, but not good for CV.
Its Survivor all over again, the weak combine to defeat the competent.
The number of people who joined committees just to say they were on one is not limited to the administration of George Loewenstein but goes back many administrations. People ask the president to put them on a committee and claim they have the proper knowledge and motivation. What they may or not do after that is usually the problem. Some chairs will ask for a member to be removed. Some chars request certain people be on their committee. I would assume that who ever becomes president now will have the ability to make whatever changes they feel necessary in committee chairs and members.
Larry 9:51 sez “Would be nice if everything was perfect in this world.” Personally I think there is a lot of room between useless and perfect, I am a big fan of GE – GOOD ENOUGH. At any age you need to consider back up people if you are in a position of responsibility, also if you suddenly resign, have medical problems, family problems, etc. Just a reality of life.
