WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE GOLF COURSE?

There is a rumor circulating that a secret meeting took place of the so called Pro-Active Golf course Committee.

Who is on this committee? Who do they represent? Is the Pro-Active committee an official UCO committee?

The rumor mill suggests that this Ad-Hoc Committee collected monies from Unit Owners some time ago; where is an accounting for these funds?

I have heard that the owner of the Golf course was at this secret meeting; what did he have to say? What are his plans to increase the value of our units here in CV.

Why is this information being kept from the Unit Owners of CV by an Ad-Hoc "committee" that represents no one except themselves?

Let the Unit Owners of CV hear the entire story. Let's hear what the Golf course owner, and his team, have to say.

Do any of the bloggers know anything about this meeting?

Actually, I hope the Ad Hoc group buys the course for us. I think the greens fees would be a break even for maintenance expenses. Otherwise, if the course folds and is sold, we may just have another convenience store/pawn shop next to Golf's Edge. Maybe this is all just an early April Fools joke though...

Coincidentally, I received this golf warning today from Cyber Citizens:
Dear Senators,
Senate Bill S 880 is on the agenda of the Committee on Regulated Industries on Wednesday, 04/01/09 at 4:00 p.m
As much as HOA (FS 720) reform is needed, this bill, if enacted, will have many adverse provisions that will cause even more financial problems in our community associations. Don't we have enough yet? These associations are turning into financial traps for many financially responsible homeowners.

Cyber Citizens is the largest state organization of unit owners residing in Condominium and Homeowner's Associations. We ask you: Please don't vote in favor of a bill that will put an even heavier financial burden on Florida's HOA members.

Golf Courses:
Allowing associations to buy golf courses -- often already under financial siege -- makes even more family homes collateral for high maintenance fees of so-called amenities. Something owners can ill afford considering our economy. Many owners have already realized that it is nearly impossible to sell a home with a golf course attached. Just ask the owners in the Aberdeen POA in Boynton Beach. Their community is fighting lawsuits about the golf course since 2001. And they are not the only ones! Isn't that warning enough?

Rental Restrictions:
For many homeowners under financial siege renting out the home is the last chance for many to save their homes from foreclosure. Creating provisions that makes it much more difficult -- or even impossible -- to rent out the home will kill this chance!
Don't we have enough foreclosures yet?

Let me get this straight. There are a bunch of people on some Ad Hoc committee meeting with the owners of the golf course but they are not a legitimate representative agent or committee of the CV owners? How does something like this happen? These frauds have no business meeting with a developer in the name of CV. Sue these frauds.

Apparently this previously appointed ad hoc committee is no longer an official UCO Committee, as per the statement made by our President at the Executive Board meeting on Monday. The 'report' given by Phil was sketchy at best. His position was that 'we' were not going support a development to be built on the Golf course. The only way a development could go forward, is by the approval of the County Commissioners to re-zone the property. I have too little information to work with and am certain that Dave will clarify this important issue when he has sufficient facts to do so.

Randall: I wouldn't bet much on the current PBC Commission and their zoning decisions to offer CV any protection vis-a-vis possible golf course development.

I hope that the associations don't get stuck to buy the golf course. It is not a money making proposition that is why the owners want to get rid of it. do we actually have people here who believe that it makes money?? Just look at it. We have enough expenses right now. We don't need anymore!!!!!! Come on people, wake up. Get your heads our of the dream land cloudds.

The owner is not SELLING!! He wants to develop it. He probably will close it at the end of the month, MAYBE!
