In the News

The founder of the United Technologies empire died recently. He's said to have built Hartford, Connecticut, the way IBM did for Boca Raton. Although the county is sour about the company cutting and running after spending so much on the city to bring them here, the fact remains that Boca is so tony, you need papers and shots to live there.

Seeing that you mention
United Technologies let me
add to that. The Board
Chairman and former CEO
of U.T. and his wife are in
divorce court and the wife
is asking for $100 million
as a settlement for she claims that it costs her
$53,000 per week for her
expenses.

No-one loves the latest UTC CEO scandals more than ex-slaves of UTC - mud, mud, mud -
“Each side claims cheating, sex scandals, and multiple divorce filings during their roller-coaster relationship.
The of a Swedish countess looking for a $100 million divorce settlement from her CEO husband are making headlines. Marie Douglas-David’s pursuit of $53,000 in weekly expenses stands out during a time when many are downplaying lavish spending. “She threatened him with a mud fight if he did not give her everything she ever asked for,” said George David’s attorney.
Douglas-David, who married the United Technologies chief in 2002, notes in her filing that her weekly expenses “may seem high”—for perspective, her $4,500 in clothing and $8,000 in travel per week is the equivalent of flying from New York to Sweden and buying 13 pairs of Gap jeans every day. "

Info for northerners coming south:

--If it can't be fried in bacon grease, it ain't worth eating.

-- If you run your car into a ditch, don't panic. Four men in the cab of a four-wheel-drive truck with a 12-pack of beer and a tow chain will be along shortly. Don't try to help, just stay out of their way -- this is what they live for.

-- Don't be surprised to find boiled peanuts, movie rentals and fishing bait in the same store.

-- Remember: "Y'all" is singular. "All y'all" is plural. "All y'all's" is plural possessive.

-- Don't be worried that you don't understand anyone. They don't understand you either.

-- If you hear a Southerner exclaim, "Hey, y'all, watch this!" -- stay out of his way. These are likely the last words he will ever say.

-- If you see a turn signal blinking on a car with a southern license plate, you may rest assured that it was on when the car was purchased.

-- Satellite dishes are very popular in the South. They are to be positioned directly in front of one's trailer, since it cost considerably more than the trailer and should, therefore, be displayed.

-- As you are cursing the person driving 15 mph in a 55 mph zone, directly in the middle of the road, remember: many Southerners learned to drive on a John Deere, and this is the proper speed and lane position for that vehicle.

-- You can ask a Southerner for directions, but unless you already know the positions of key hills, trees and rocks, you're better off trying to find it yourself.

Hi A Nony Mouse
Jul 13, 2009 5:10:00 AM,

Are you suggesting that this entire thread be removed?

Think about that for a minute and please be careful what you ask for.

Remember the CV Q & A!!

We edit out very little in this BLOG;
EG: egregiously foul language and racial and ethnic slurs.

This thread hardly qualifies for deletion.
