GATE CRASHERS

Hi all,

For reasons beyond my comprehension we have a small number of folks who like to drive through our transponder lane gates without stopping and waiting for the gate to go up!

What is the big hurry? Just a matter of a few seconds, but no; straight through they go.

The video clip above shows a CV unit owner vehicle driving through the gate with no intention whatever of stopping; it is the black car in the right lane, note that the brake light is never even flashed; not even a tap on the brake pedal!!

All unit owners be aware, these gates are monitored by cameras; and most of the time either the guards or the cameras capture the offenders license tag. In short order, the unit owner receives a letter with a demand for $35.00, if the offender stopped and provided his/her ID information.

If the driver flees without stopping; the fee is $80.00. Please, help enhance our security. don't crash the gate!

By the way, until the fee is paid; the unit owner is removed from the Transponder system!

Just goes to show you how the world that we live in is so screwed up. Some of the people that live in CV should not even be driving. They are a danger to society. It's a circus here.

Charge them $200 for the gate and you will see very few broken gates.

Mike,
The extra cost of 'leaving the scene' of a gate arm breakage helps to cover the extra cost of labor for security to track down the offending vehicle. Unfortunately, the charge cannot be of an amount which may be considered punitive.
Also, practically speaking, smaller sums are easier to collect.

Maybe they thought momentarily they were leaving the village, the outward bound bar stays up for a cluster of cars.

You say maybe they thought they were leaving the village. That is why they are confused and should not be driving at all. I agree with the first blog how this is a circus and they should be charged a high fee.

If you can't collect it, just put a lien on their condo and see what happens if they go to sell.

wheres the rest of the story Dave, did they stop, what was the excuse, blind, deaf, confused, on phone, texting??

I think that $100. would be a good amount. If there is problems collecting put a lien on the condo. There are people in the Village who are driving and they have Dementia. I know of 2 women who are friends of friends. The friends don't want to rock the boat so these 2 ladies continue to drive and one forgets where she is going. It is very sad but they need to be gotten off the roads.

What happens when it is a guest who breaks the arm? How would you be able to track them down?

Hi
A Nony Mouse,

Guests rarely go thru the transponder lane, unless driving the Unit Owners car, in which case the Unit Owner is responsible.

Hi A Nony Mouse,
Sep 4, 2009 9:18:00 AM,

The driver did not stop, but the tag number was captured by the sharp eyes of the security force.

Later Major Jeff searched out the vehicle and the unit owner was billed for the gate arm plus a fee for fleeing the scene. Total cost to the unit owner $80.00 dollars.

The unit owner story; "I didn't do it", until confronted with the Video Clip.

To Grace,

Those two women that are driving and have dementia should be off the road. They are a danger to themselves and to other people.

I know dementia is a terrible illness and I fell for these women, but someone has to speak up and take their keys away.

Is posting the same message four consecutive times an early warning sign?

I don’t know but I’ve been told, that our gate cameras record every license plate coming into the village.
The story above (Dave 9:31)would appear to disprove that, security had to eyeball the plate and the video is certainly fuzzy/inadequate. What else have we been misled about??

Mike said...

Obviously they only record the plates of cars entering in the guest lane . Another camera is needed for the transponder lane.

Hi Elaine,
Sep 5, 2009 10:47:00 AM,

The cameras provide a resolution of 240 line old style VHS recorders.

Also, you can see that the frame rate of the recorders is not set to provide "Full Motion video". So the clip is in effect freeze frame.

Why cut the frame rate, because the gathouse server is only 200Gbyte, thus providing only 4 days backup.

I have been lobbying for 4 years to upgrade both server capacity and camera quality.

We need high grade digital cameras and at least two TByte Network Attached Storage.

The Security Committee has put some money in the 2010 budget to make these things happen; so look forward to some improvement.

Even with our dated system, we do capture most of the tags on camera.

Has anyone noticed that
at the east gate there
are now 2 gate openers
in the guest lane entering
from Haverhill Road?
For what reason?

No Randall I don't have dementia. I posted the message and the website did not seem to take it or so I thought. I posted it twice not four times. Maybe the website has dementia or maybe you are just a wise guy!
