Sen. Barack Obama's Speech

If anyone would be interested in reading Senator Barack Obama’s speech in its entirety, you can find it on the Drudge Report. I know that CV is predominantly Hillary Clinton world (except for maybe you Capt John, who I have a sneaking suspicion is a Republican), but I’ve got to tell you, I thought Obama’s speech this morning in Philadelphia was very inspiring. We need to unite this country and we need the right person to do it. I believe he could be a very special leader, exactly what this country needs. I have not made my decision yet on who will get my vote when the time comes, but I sure would love to hear some of your opinions. Anyone willing to share?
Chris

Hi Chris , I think it's good to put stuff like this on the blog but this Old Irishman can't vote for anyone that wants comprehensive immigration reform before securing our Southern Border. Mike

Since my name was mentioned, I am an *INDEPENDENT* - too poor to be a lib demo and too much of a patriot to be a conservative repub (although that is the way I lean).

How ANYONE in this Village could be a lib demo is beyond me - when they are going to take your money and benefits; when they are anti-Israel; when criminals will be allowed to run wild, kill cops and sue the victims; when their only answer to any of our problems is throw money at it, which has never worked; when the official language will soon be english/ Spanish; who pays taxes, surely, not criminals, organized crime, illegal aliens, exxon (oh, I already said organized crime, sorry) churches and
ESPECIALLY foundations; etc, etc, etc !!! Didn't the Klinton's and this Demo congress teach anyone anything ??? By the way - YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO WHAT YOU ALWAYS HAVE - THINK !!! LIVE !!!

Capt John old buddy , good to see you are exercising your demons . lol

Hi Mike and Capt John, Great stuff. Hope we hear more. By the way, in the last 2 presidential elections I voted Republican and I may again this year. I know everyone around here loves Hillary, but I just don't want the Clintons back in the White House.

Chris , I'm hoping Lou Dobbs will run as an independent. Neither party has a decent candidate. If Dobbs doesn't run I'll vote for Nader as a protest vote.

Subject: What a black columnist has to say about Obama

Ken Blackwell - Columnist for the New York Sun

It's an amazing time to be alive in America. We're in a year of firsts in this presidential election: the first viable woman candidate; the first viable African-American candidate; and, a candidate who is the first frontrunning freedom fighter over 70. The next president of America will be a first.

We won't truly be in an election of firsts, however, until we judge every candidate by where they stand. We won't arrive where we should be until we no longer talk about skin color or gender. Now that Barack Obama steps to the front of the Democratic field, we need to stop talking about his race, and start talking about his policies and his politics.

The reality is this: Though the Democrats will not have a nominee until August, unless Hillary Clinton drops out, Mr. Obama is now the frontrunner, and its time America takes a closer and deeper look at him.

Some pundits are calling him the next John F. Kennedy. He's not. He's the next George McGovern. And it's time people learned the facts.

Because the truth is that Mr. Obama is the single most liberal senator in the entire U.S. Senate. He is more liberal than Ted Kennedy, Bernie Sanders, or Mrs. Clinton. Never in my life have I seen a presidential frontrunner whose rhetoric is so far removed from his record. Walter Mondale promised to raise our taxes, and he lost. George McGovern promised military weakness, and he lost. Michael Dukakis promised a liberal domestic agenda, and he lost.

Yet Mr. Obama is promising all those things, and he's not behind in the polls. Why? Because the press has dealt with him as if he were in a beauty pageant. Mr. Obama talks about getting past party, getting past red and blue, to lead the United States of America. But let's look at the more defined strokes of who he is underneath this superficial 'beauty.'

Start with national security, since the president's most important duties are as commander-in-chief. Over the summer, Mr. Obama talked about invading Pakistan, a nation armed with nuclear weapons; meeting without preconditions with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who vows to destroy Israel and create another Holocaust; and Kim Jong II, who is murdering and starving his people, but emphasized that the nuclear option was off the table against terrorists - something no president has ever taken off the table since we created nuclear weapons in the 1940s. Even Democrats who have worked in national security condemned all of those remarks. Mr. Obama is a foreign-policy novice who would put our national security at risk.

Next, consider economic policy. For all its faults, our health care system is the strongest in the world. And free trade agreements, created by Bill Clinton as well as President Bush, have made more goods more affordable so that even people of modest means can live a life that no one imagined a generation ago. Yet Mr. Obama promises to raise taxes on 'the rich.' How to fix Social Security? Raise taxes. How to fix Medicare? Raise taxes. Prescription drugs? Raise taxes. Free college? Raise taxes. Socialize medicine? Raise taxes. His solution to everything is to have government take it over. Big Brother on steroids, funded by your paycheck.

Finally, look at the social issues. Mr. Obama had the audacity to open a stadium rally by saying, 'All praise and glory to God!' but says that Christian leaders speaking for life and marriage have 'hijacked' - hijacked - Christianity. He is pro-partial birth abortion, and promises to appoint Supreme Court justices who will rule any restriction on it unconstitutional. He espouses the abortion views of Margaret Sanger, one of the early advocates of racial cleansing. His spiritual leaders endorse homosexual marriage, and he is moving in that direction. In Illinois, he refused to vote against a statewide ban - ban - on all handguns in the state. These are radical left, Hollywood, and San Francisco values, not Middle America values.

The real Mr. Obama is an easy target for the general election. Mrs. Clinton is a far tougher opponent. But Mr. Obama could win if people don't start looking behind his veneer and flowery speeches. His vision of 'bringing America together' means saying that those who disagree with his agenda for America are hijackers or warmongers. Uniting the country means adopting his liberal agenda and abandoning any conflicting beliefs.

But right now everyone is talking about how eloquent of a speaker he is and - yes - they're talking about his race. Those should never be the factors on which we base our choice for president. Mr. Obama's radical agenda sets him far outside the American mainstream, to the left of Mrs. Clinton.

It's time to talk about the real Barack Obama. In an election of firsts, let's first make sure we elect the person who is qualified to be our president in a nuclear age during a global civilizational war

As a registered Democratic, who has
on several occassions, had to cross
party lines, no doubt will once more...can support the likes of
Barack Obama for any Political Office, in this Country, is beyond
me...His early education (Islamic
in nature ) current religious affliation Christianity, which were
he a true practicing Christian, would support the State of Israel,
which he has not, and the latest
denouncement of his "Friend, Pastor
and Mentor", or should I rephrase
it and say, Pastor only, only shows
this man, will go to any length,
to obtain his object- The nomination. Wake Up America!!!!!

Mike said...

I happen to support Israel but it has nothing to do with my religous affiliation. I support Israel because It is a US ally in a sea of American enemies. I'm an American and I really only care about the good old USA.

"Neither party has a decent candidate" - Mike my good man, that is the ABSOLUTE TRUTH !!!

Topper said...

Lots of good stuff. Mike I absolutely agree with everything you said in your last comment. I worry about America. I am a patriot and love my country so much. I support Isreal for the same reasons you do Mike. I love England because it is our friend. I worry so much about the state of the country.
I am not as well read as most of you. I simply don't have the time to devote. Working full time and with many other commitments, it is so hard to keep up. I just don't know what or who to believe.

All I can say is that I do the best I can to stay informed and vote with my heart for the good of our country.

I love the old fashioned values that I was raised with and so many times wonder where they have all gone. It seems like so many people are so mean spirited, unkind, rude, angry people with no common sense.

I just don't know. That is why I value all of your views. It helps me learn.

Obama's speech truly did bring tears to my eye. Even if you don't believe in him, you have to admit that his speech was very inspiring. I don't know, I just don't know. Everything Capt John said I agree with too.

My dear, wonderful grandfather was 15 when he came to this country with his brother. When he landed at Ellis Island it was one of the happiest days of his life. By the time he turned 16, he had already enlisted in the U.S. Army. He wanted to fight for America that he so love. He didn't speak a word of English when he got here, but he worked so very had to learn it. By mistake, he was put into a Polish regiment. So first he had to learn Polish before he could even learn English But he did it. By the time World War I was over, he could speak Italian (his native tongue), Polish and English.
I am so proud of him and all the Americans that have come before me.

I'm sorry, I don't even know where I am headed with this. I just start to ramble because of all these emotions bottle up in me.

Sorry for the long comment - but I guess you get my drift.
Chris

Hey Capt. I think The Republicans controlled congress 94-2006 and Clinton left the country with a big surplus. We can discuss this over dinner . lol

capt john said...

Yeah, I know the Clinton "subject" is the "surplus" and not: MOGADISHU; SERBIA/YUGOSLAVIA; "OPERATION DESERT FOX"; bubba BEING A WAR CRIMINAL (DO A SEARCH!) - ALSO BEING A U.S. CRIMINAL-AT-LARGE (DO A SEARCH!); AN IMPEACHED PRESIDENT AND DISBARRED LAWYER; the klintons' TOTAL HATRED OF THE *U.S.* MILITARY; THE UNBELIEVABLE IGNORANCE OF MILITARY AFFAIRS AND FOREIGN POLICY; etc. etc. etc.

Yeah, it WAS the economy, which was "done" by breaking the back of the middle class: As any first year poli-sci student knows, the initial requirement for an elite socialist order, is the elimination of a middle class.

GREAT, GREAT POST CHRIS, THANK YOU. I am very PROUD of your father also; and, VERY THANKFUL TO HIM - "HE" WAS THE GREATEST GENERATION !!!

He spoke Italian and the Army put him in a Polish unit, sounds about right!

(ps: I am of Polish/Italian descent.)

Mike said...

Capt. Ya gotta admit , whatever bubba did , he had the blessing of the Republican congress. The senate found poor Bubba innocent. I know , I know Bubba was the downfall of all those Republicans who had to leave office because of morals charges, when they were unmasked trying to impeach poor Bubba. I Think Bubba has suffered enough , just having to sleep with Hill. lol

capt john said...

he don't sleep with hitlery, are you crazy ... but I do get your point and I AGREE !!!

Topper said...

You guys are brutal! Capt John - I sure wouldn't want to go a round with you!

capt john said...

This "speech" was nothing more than hussein's answer to hitlery's crying (remember New Hampshire - and "they" bought it - DUH!!!). THEY WILL DO *ANYTHING* FOR POWER, *ANYTHING* !!!
