THE BLOGMEISTER IS SOON TO RETURN

Hi All,

I am advised this day that I will be discharged from Morse Geriatric on July 02, 2008.

I look forward to rejoining you all in CV once again; and to help in the fight against the growing autocracy.

Use this BLOG to make your voices heard; All Committee chairs (or members who believe in Democracy); please publish your standing meeting times and places in this BLOG and on your BB Boards; Unit Owners, show up for those matters that interest you and make your voices heard.

I am advised that Anita Cruze (VP WPRF) has opened the Operations Committee meetings to Unit Owners; are you interested in how MILLIONS of your dollars are spent; then show up and make your voices heard. (Anyone knowing differently, please note correction here)

David, The way I heard it was Anita Cruz was questioned as to whether she had any problem with an open Operations Committee meeting and she replied she did not as long as UCO concurred. I am not sure if she herself can make the meetings open.

I also understand that some people have requested that they attend a Operations meeting and were allowed to attend.

In my humble opinion the operations committee should bring forward a proposed amendment to the UCO by-laws to clarify open meetings language as it now stands.Let the officers, executive board and the delegates vote on how they want this matter to be resolved. It appears that the present language leaves something to be desired.

Larry,

I disagree! UCO’s by-laws provided for open meetings! The Operations Committee is a committee of UCO, and as such it should be open to residents too. The amendment did pass with near unanimous approval for all meetings to be OPEN, (in 2003)!
UCO has been working under that understanding and ESTABLISHED the precedent that MEETINGS are open.
Larry, it is time to choose sides and stop equivocating endlessly.

Interesting. Where was this outcry during the past administrations?? How many town hall meetings did they have? How many open committee meetings were there?Perhaps autocracy should be applied to past administrations. As this blog, which should be fair and equal isn't, I hope people see past the smoke and mirrors and one sided and prejudicial comments that are made here. There was an election in March. The delegates voted-they are all not a bunch of idiots. Time to move on and stop the bashing.

Ed I disagree with your analysis. I believe that the best way to resolve the open meetings situation is to prepare , present and vote on an amendment to the UCO bylaws that specifically says ALL committee meetings, which includes the operations committee, be open meetings.

At present the bylaws do not state that open meetings are mandatory so there are different opinions on what the present bylaws mean. If in fact open meetings are what our residents want, then make them mandatory and end the matter.

There exists the possibility that open meetings ARE NOT the most important matter to our residents and that mandatory open meetings will be voted down.

To anonymous 12:29. Now that Dave is back expect to see more bashing of the present administration. It appears that this is the primary function of this here blog.

To Ed Black, Talk about lousy adherence to the open meetings you only have to look at the Marshall administration.

One must respect Dave for his ability to do the research and come up with terrific answers. There is none that I know that can compare. However, as Supreme Pontifex of this blog, his viewpoint is not fact but opinion-perhaps colored, a bit slanted and biased. I think we all have to remember that.If one is a member of the executive board of CV and is principled and so unhappy with the current administration then one in good conscience should resign from that position (as Phyllis did). To my understanding members of the executive board are part and parcel of this administration and what it stands for.

To anonymous 1:38, I wholeheartedly agree. FYI, I am NOT a SHILL of this administration-just an average JOe who has had enough of the Supreme Autocrats of this blog. Some people think what is said by them is gospel. It isn't, its only opinion and we take it from whom it comes. I am truly disappointed that this blog has taken this route. But just like the boy who cried wolf, eventually they will be ignored. I do believe there are many others that feel the same.

Just an opinion of my observations:

Neither the current nor the past so called "administrations" are the only ones that are guilty of what they are being  accused of.  The individual associations, for the most part, send delegates to the meeting that represent their attitudes: like sheep they are herded by the border collies that respond to the SUPREME MASTERS.

The legislators enacted new laws, effective Oct. 1st, 2008, in the hopes that the individual associations would have to take responsibility for their affairs. I have little faith that suddenly we have a better pool to select our boards from.
The reason we have such a mess is because the individual unit owners are lazy (because they want the other guy to do it), and stupid(since they assume the other guy is working on their behalf.). And should never have bought a condo.

I am a member of the current executive board and a past member also. At NO TIME HAVE I EVER BEEN TOLD HOW TO VOTE OR ACT BY EITHER THE PRESENT ADMINISTRATION OR PAST ADMINISTRATIONS.In my experience the members of the executive board are independent thinkers whose ideas vary greatly.I have attended some rather interesting meetings as a result.
