While flipping the channels on my TV the other night and landing on CH 30 MTV I saw a message being shown repeatedly at the bottom of the screen. It was directed to all Time Warner Cable subscribers advising that T.W. has or was going to take away 18 Channels. These would include MTV, Nickelodion and Turner Classic Movies. Viewers using Time Warner were advised to call an 800 number to register their protest. Now I know what I have to look forward to back in NY where Time Warner serves as my cable source.

It's not Time Warner but Viacom who ownes all those channels, and has raised the price to Time Warner beyond any reason. The protest should be against Viacom.
Dave...How are things progressing as far as the consulting firm and Comcast?
Our Consulting firm has placed our requested "line-up" before as many "providers" in competition with Comcast, as is possible, so all in the village may know just what the competitors may offer.
In many cases communities have chosen to leave Comcast and go to the “hungry” provider that seems to always “outbid” Comcast.
Your committee is seeking the best offer of the “many” as we may obtain, so the Delegate Assembly may decide which Company’s offer to accept.
If Comcast remains truly interested, their lack of contact or offer to discuss would indicate this Village is “expendable”. What other conclusions may we draw from their unfair treatment? Please keep in mind they have not “offered” to waive the 5% indexing increase for 2009, even though they removed so many channels including 1/3rd of the specific 3 HBO stations agreed to during the last contract negotiations.
In my opinion, it does not look like Comcast is interested in keeping this Village under contract or in satisfying you, their customer. Their complete disregard of these issues would favor accepting the Competition’s best offer, anyway.

Perhaps Comcast would be more receptive if the Palm Beach Post, or one of our other newspapers would be willing to expose our grievences in an article? "Large corporation Comcast giving Century Village senior citizens a hard time."
