Hi All,
Just prior to the next Delegate Assembly (DA) meeting, at 8:00 am, there will be an election for the Executive Board and for two Vice Presidents of UCO.
There are three candidates for the two VP positions, they are: Ms. Claudette LaBonte, Bob Marshall and Yours Truly, Dave Israel.
I am advised that Ms. LaBonte was endorsed by UCO VP Jerry Karpf at a meeting of his Maintenance Committee. I am also advised that Ms LaBonte spoke at a meeting of the OWLS; is she an OWL member?
Ok; if UCO is supporting Ms LaBonte, so be it. This fact tells the voters that if you like the way UCO has functioned over the last 3 years; then she is your candidate.
I am distinctly not pleased with UCO Operations and I will stand to say so.
This is my only outlet for making my case and I earnestly request that you consider all of the facts and then support Bob Marshall and I for VP of UCO.

I must make a comment on the issue of these busses standing 6 deep at the Clubhouse for 15 minutes with engines running and three busses which do the same at publix for 10 minutes.
We have done extensive research on this issue and there is NO justification for doing this.
The claim made by the Bus company, and supported by Ms. LaBonte, as regards extra cost of Starters, Batteries and other mechanical and electrical items are not supported by experts in the field.
Statements made by the Bus company employees must be taken with a grain of salt.
We, the Unit Owners of CV, are paying for the gas. It is costing us thousands of dollars per year in fuel burned up by busses going nowhere.
Zero miles per gallon is a losing proposition. This issue has been briefed to the Transportation Committee two month in succession; once by Ed Black and once by me.
Turn off the busses when at idle at the clubhouse and at Publix.

The ones that are voting in this election are the delegates. The delegates are the lackeys of UCO. Until the unit owner has the vote, nothing will change.
If Ms. LaBonte ever looked at suggestions made by specialists in the field of automobile engines, brakes, electrical systems, etc., she would not have made the many ridiculous claims she has supported in the past. Everyone that has ever driven knows that if you are parked with the engine running and you expect it to be running two minutes or more, you should turn off your ignition. There are many electrical components in the vehicles of today. Turning the engine on and off ten times a day will not cause unnecessary wear and tear. I have a vehicle. I turn it off if it's two minutes or more. I have had this vehicle for eight years now. The electrical problems are caused by the heat in this area of the world. If you want to have the proper advice, there is an electrical auto repair shop south on Military Trail on the west side of the road opposite the airport. They will tell you the largest damage to our vehicles is the heat. Window switches, window wiper switches, horns, ignition key switches, are due to the oppressive heat in our area. This company's customers for the four months of summer makes more than four times what he makes for the rest of the year. Go and ask him. My eight year old vehicle is an example (I come from Canada). So, if you are going to sit idle for two minutes or more, turn it off and tell Ms. LaBonte to get her information from a reliable source before she endorses it.
phyllis, here(someday i will learn how to use thiscorrectly) anyway, as a former vp i must endorse bob marshall and dave israel for vice presidents. if we want to bring some reality and insite to our government here they must be elected. frank cornish has been doing a yoemans job but all by himself. with bob, dave and frank at the forefront we can be assured that the truth will be told and that a lot of the stuff that has us all twisted will be gone or at least addressed in the proper manner. please,folks, get in touch with your delegate and explain how important it is to get these guys in office. look around, how much more of this do we want?
Ms La Bonte has a different answer for different people. When I complained to her she told me the buses would be too hot for the people if they shut them off. I told he I my car off when I am not using it and turn the motor on when I am leaving with the air conditioning when needed. I cool off quite quickly. No one seems to adddress the pollution factor. I walk past the buses on my way into the clubhouse and hold my breath because I don't want to breath in the air from the exhausts. In Montreal, where I hail from, they passed a laws years ago that it was unlawful to leave a car idling for more than 2 minutes. Ms LaBonte in her wisdom? is a polluter.

Permit me to assure everyone; I am a Delegate but I am not a "Lackey of UCO"
I do believe that UCO can perform a very useful coordinating function for those many tasks necessary to run our small City.
I believe that if UCO can become Legal, Accurate, Supportive, Advisory and more Professional. That it can then return to it's original purpose.
In the end, effecting this change is in the hands of every Unit Owner.

How can you make this statement ??Have you forgotten that the delegates voted to NOT pursue one vote per unit, and claimed there was no interest.??
I KNOW for a fact that the people have been brainwashed to believe all the palava UCO puts out. They believe it's "official information" that's in their best interest.
Had it not been for your blog and your effort, the unit owners, to this day, would not know the truth.You have been the only one at UCO that has come forth with accurate information.You have been the only voice crying out for UCO to be legal.
And it is difficult to believe that you are the ONLY one who believes in legal.

How would you like to be a bus driver on a hot Florida day, sitting in a bus with the A/C turned off because the ignition is off?
Anonymous...The drivers now stay outside the bus at publix and talk or go in for coffee. At the clubhouse they are always outside talking and they also could go in the club house like we do. Let's THINK GREEN!!

Good point; but the Bus Driver, like our Unit-Owners may wait in the Air Conditioned Clubhouse or The Air Conditioned Publix until time for departure.
This slight inconvenience is not significant in the face of the thousands of dollars we are burning up while standing still.

Change is possible without One Vote per Unit (OVPU); if concerned Unit Owners make their will known to their Delegates.
OVPU is an egalitarian concept and if there is wide spread interest in having this happen in CV, it's time may arise again.
Know well that major legal hurdles and reorganization of our Bylaws will be required; but the difficulties would not be insurmountable.
The Delegates Assembled, were not prepared at this time to expend the funds for the Attorney to look yet again at this issue.
So, work the issue of change within the existing structure.

The Board of Directors runs the Associations, NOT the president/delegate.
The president executes the wishes of the Board of Directors of each individual Association.
Every first Friday of the month, there is a brainwashing session, called the delegate meeting. Most delegate are also president. They bring back information/propaganda to their Board. That information is backed up by the self-serving rag called the UCO reporter.
And you have the nerve to suggest that the victims / unit owners should rise up and talk to their delegate/president ????
Have you joined the group that is blaming the victims for the illegalities of their leadership ???

The Delegate Meeting is an open forum. You can ask to speak about your one person/one vote suggestion. The delegates will hear it coming from you, not UCO.

I attend most of Mr.Karpf's meetings i know for a fact he supplies all, who are the meeting latest information on on condo law,and maintenance what have the others done lately except complain. what have done?
