COMPUTER NEEDED

COMPUTER NEEDED

The CV Fund is in need of a computer on which to store our records and produce the correspondence required to obtain grants and funds from charitable organizations and individuals. Can anyone help? We are looking for a laptop with Windows XP. A laptop is needed, because the computer will need to be operated at different locations.

A used machine would be fine so long as it is a laptop with Windows XP.

Two hundred dollars ($200) has already been donated toward the cost.

Are there any out there who could help? Please call the CV Fund at (561) 640-7606 and ask for Jean Dowling.

Thanks!

The computer club does NOT use laptops in their classes. They used DESKTOPS. The computer club has always tried to help OUR residents with their computer with classes and lectures...Check it Out, Giacomo!

I think Anonymous is right, that the Computer Club uses only desktop computers. This might help us temporarily, and I believe it is being looked into, but what is really needed in a laptop as described. Thank you both for your interest.

BARBARA, what I should have stated as a club or group maybe one in the group has a laptop and maybe is buying another and could give their old one up
and yes you have classes but if your club invites those without computers in to see if by first learning then make a purchase that would give maybe many more residents a great option to communicate. For some maybe it's not for them they will know by their first experince with this century of communicatinos I only myself have very limited knowledge and may join in the future and lastly I still type with one finger what I learn in HS and never used is just another thing from the past.

We don't need to bring the computer club into this. Anyone can go to the library and have an hour free on a computer to see if they are interested. Since Giacomo likes to donate other's resources why not donate from your own.

Grace, your club has Power which =
knowledge in computers the only resourse we need is acess to that knowledge, and some may have no computers at their apts. to begin? thats all I intended to convey, I guess you can tell a resident sorry you have to go to the Library the dues you pay for this building doesn't apply to our room, save up get a computer and join the club. Do the members of your club do other great works many serve this Village above and beyond, yes their do, this issue itself will become mute because the new residents are more adept to this technoligy, and will not need help to get started oh and yes have a computer.

As a member of the computer club for many years, and the President for the last 3 years you might be interested to know the club has a membership of over 500 people. I find it quite interesting that someone that doesn't even belong to the club would even suggest that club members do not donate any of their time or money to volunteer helping others in this village or elsewhere. I happen to know that many, many of the members are volunteers for Cert, UCO, The Red Cross, Hospice, working with children, teaching and repairing computers for others, and I could go on and on. How could you Giacomo, take it upon yourself to make such idiotic comments? I don't know where you get your information regarding members of the club, when you are not even a member, and have no knowledge whatsoever of what goes on in the club, and why. What do YOU, Giacomo, do to give of yourself in this village or out of it, besides post here on the blog?
Anyone who wants knowledge about the operation of computers is given that free, by our many volunteer teacher members. How can you learn, if you have nothing to practice on? Good luck trying to find a piano teacher to teach you to play the piano if you have no piano at home to practice on. The computer club even sells used computers for as little as $25.00, when we replace them with new computers................and yes, for your information, the members pay for the computers in the classroom.
